It varies state to state, adjusted to the cost of living.(to some degree)
got an extra dollar for the hours I preceptored or took charge. I could have worked overtime but i chose not too.

the pay varies, with california being the highest.
mostly between, $24 and $28, and time and a half for overtime.
I made a lot of money when I did my contract, as I worked a lot of overtime and had a charge nurse position for over 12 months which meant that they also paid me $3 more an hour.
Thank you for your replies :)

I tried to play the experienced card, but my recruitment company and Banner were having none of it.
Told me I was to be treated as a new grad ('that's what the hospitals want') and I had to accept the pay rate. $24 flat and $26 for nights.
Not that bothered intially, get OT in and see what happens at the end of my contract when I start applying for CEO posts
Cheers

Guess I am lucky and they appear to have a good programme for foreign nurses in adapting to US style of things
mind you i would imagine being with an agency makes the difference as they have to earn themselves some money, hence our lower hourly rate
I think your right there was no consideration for my experience with the agency but its well recognised now i'm going with the hospital.
I think thats fairly standard as all the US travel nurses in Tucson anyway get $28 per hr though they do get a $1200 monthly housing allowance too.
