I just wanted to throw this out to the group to get an idea of what ya'll thought was the hardest pre-req and why? I have seen some say Micro, some Chem, Some AP.
Let me know your thoughts?

No question about it....A&P.
Nothing I have done in nursing so far has even compared to that class.
A close second was the Chemistry....it probably would have been better if our instructor was competent.

I would have to say Micro. A&P came rather easy to me, I guess because I was totally fasicinated with it. I like Micro too, but boy is it a toughie!

Definitely Chem! Although the content was challenging, I had an amazing professor who even held study groups with us the weekends! I got really lucky with her

I think it really depends on your aptitude. I personally loath math so inorganic chemistry was the most difficult for me since most of the stuff we learned revolved around math. Organic chem is waaaay different from inorganic chem, the two are in totally different ball parks as far as the info they focus on. They do not relate to one another at all. In o-chem there is little to no math it's more memorization of nomenclature and being able to correctly ID/draw molecules using that nomenclature. At the end of my o-chem we had a little intro (about the last 3 weeks of the qtr) to biochem which I found to be very interesing. The concepts were a little tougher than the o-chem portion e.g. how ATP is made in the mitochondria & used by the cell, DNA synthesis, citric acid cycle (aka krebs), glycolysis, ect. But overall I found o-chem to be much more enjoyable. But then again I do not have an aptitude for math! lol!
A&P is just rote memorization. The concepts aren't very difficult and if you set aside the time to memorize the information you will find it to be pretty easy. If you don't spend the time to memorize then it would be a pretty tough class. The stuff you are memorizing is usually difficult to pronounce (the names are latin) thus making it harder to memorize. Not stuff you could cram at the last minute imho. Micro is similar to A&P lotsa rote memorization with some new concepts introduced that pertain to prokaryotic cells and viruses. If your school does not require O-chem then micro will probably be a little more difficult as biochem is covered somewhat (DNA synthesis, ect).
I wish you the very best of luck on your prereqs!!!

No doubt, A & P is by far the hardest class I've ever taken. I'm currently taking A & P 2, and even though it's the only class I'm taking this semester (only Micro to go), I have to study so much for it. I'm not really a science person, so I just can't read the material once and get it. I never thought, though, that any class would be harder than Intermediate Algebra, and at the time, I thought that class was the hardest I ever had.

CHEMISTRY--- BROKE MY 4.0 AND I HAVE NOOOO IDEA HOW I MANGED TO GET OUT WITH B (I guess he could not fail everybody)

Well I would have to say micro was the most challenging for me. The course I took had a lot of information to learn in a short period of time. I only say it was more difficult than A&P for that reason. I took A&P II and micro in the same semester and I had to studied micro a pretty descent amount more to pull off an A. The professor also wrote very difficult tests so maybe that's the reason too.
I am in chem right now and I do not find it to be difficult. It doesn't take nearly the amount of time learn all the material. All you have to do is understand a few concepts and practice a few problems. Had I of known that last semester I would have taken Chem along with A&P II instead of micro.

Micro was actually an easy class for me because my instructor didn't "teach" (we watched educational videos every day). Don't ask me how I got anything out of that class. I loved nutrition, although most of my classmates hated it. I'm going to have to say A&P, it's so hard for me to get interested in patho.

I took A&P my first semester out of high school. I had never learned to study so needless to say A&P1 kicked my butt. It didn't help that I slept through almost every lecture. I crammed and pulled a C.
By the time I took my other pre-reqs, 4 years later, I had learned how to study and did much better in A&P2, Micro, and Nutrition.
BUT I still have a math to take because my new school won't except the math class that I took. I hate math so I chose the easy of the choices, Contemporary Math (which I aced), and my new school doesn't have anything comparable. So I'll be taking College Algebra, I barely made it through high school algebra with Cs. I'm not looking forward to it and it may turn out to be my hardest yet.

I guess I'll be the first to say that my General Biology couses were the HARDEST pre-reqs so far. Both professors gave very difficult exams, and both classes had us panicking every time exam time came.
Anatomy was difficult at first but got easy. Bacause I had a solid background in Anatomy (the prof was tough, but great), my Physiology class is pretty easy so far.
Micro was boring the first half but now it's getting interesting.
While I can't say organic chem is hard, I'm not getting the exam grades that I want (those darn chemical reaction equations are the reasons I lose points)
