Seriously.....!!!
I love how the "hospital won't comment on whether or not the Mom had fertility treatments". Come on!!!!
Exactly what I was getting at.Thanks, Sweeper. An OG just seems uncomfortable and unfounded if they're not on CPAP or N/C O2.
And, yes, I'm a NICU nurse.
I don't know the weights of the babies at this point, but in my NICU, we follow a protocol that any baby less than 1500g has an OG regardless of NC or CPAP. This is based on research regarding nasal/sinus deformities in VLBW kids and the whole "obligate nose breather" thing. We have found that it doesn't appear to make much difference in the baby's ability to nipple, but of course that is entirely anecdotal. I know different units have different policies, perhaps this NICU has similar protocols to mine.
In Los Angeles where both myself and Nadia reside, I can attest to the fact that CPS has even more pressing issues to attend to. WIth an unemploymant rate of nearly 12% and very high poverty rate, Greater Los Angeles CPS have many fish to fry.
What could be more pressing than 14 fatherless, neglected children?
Nadya's brood has a leg up on the thousands of other neglected and fatherless children in Los Angeles.
Attorney Gloria Allred lobbed a huge offer to Nadya Suleman on Thursday: round-the-clock nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy and a home for the super-sized Whittier family.
Volunteer nurses would help care for the babies in eight-hour shifts. In all, it would probably take about 14 trained professionals to provide stability and care for the octuplets while also assisting Suleman with her other special-needs children.

This upsets me because I am sure in California, their are single moms with a disabled child/children at home that have to fight just to get SSI for their children and they would LOVE to have these things handed to them.
I personally know moms that have had micro preemies and those moms spend hours a day trying to get different therapies for the children, insurance reimbursements, respite care for themselves. I wonder if Gloria Allred would throw some of that philanthropy their way?
I didn't look at the article yet, but if any of you have seen the absolutely hillarious movie called "Rat Race", there was an attorney character on the show who's name is "Gloria Allred". Yep, she wore all red clothing and looked everywhere for lawsuits. Just wondering how credible the story is.
OK, nevermind! I just looked up her name and sure enough, there's a Gloria Allred attorney. I wonder if the movie has "her" on there to make fun of her since she does such high profile cases? Hmmmm.

I didn't see the movie, but I think she played a caricature of herself. Gloria Allred only takes on cases if they are sensational and in the news. She's a self promoter and loves being in front of the camera. I'm guessing she will sue the fertility doctor on behalf of Nadya.

In a perfect world, yes. But CPS will just do like they usually do ......... nothing.
