Hi everyone! I'm applying for the NYU Spring 2015 ABSN program and haven't been able to find any threads about the program yet. Feel free to post questions you have or to share information about the program, your personal stats, advice for writing the personal statement or just to say hi. Here's to speedy acceptances and a fun future in nursing! :)
My Stats:
Just graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.S. in Psychology and an overall GPA of 3.38
Got an A in almost all the pre-reqs, don't know the pre-req GPA
Volunteered as an EMT for 4 years and worked for 2 years
Worked as a Direct Care Worker for 1 year
Volunteer in Methodist Hospital in the Stepdown Unit
In my opinion, the session only told me things I already knew. How to apply, that they are moving to a new building, and that their acceptance rate is around 30%. They talk a lot about other nursing programs (not just the ABSN). It is better to attend the session at the school, because in past online sessions they had a lot of problems with the PowerPoint showing up
I recently applied to PACE ABSN program and was considering applying to NYU for the Spring 2015. I noticed the deadline is 11/1. Is anybody else considering applying this late in the game? I hope it doesnt lower my chances
Why would it lower your chances? It's a deadline for them to do regular decision. Oct 1 was the deadline for early decision. You have a shot just like everyone else who applied after the early decision deadline.
I agree Pet! I also had problems with the powerpoint, and the session wasn't really worth it. Have you applied anywhere else??
I was accepted to Loyola Chicago, and just waiting on NYU. Are you going for CRNA? That is my plan right now, I am just trying to accumulate hours in the ER/ICU. I have been working as an ER tech for 3 years now, but would like to get a job in the ICU.

I figured I'd throw it out there. How many of you "local-ish" applicants are planning to attend the open house 10/25. Thoughts on if its worth it, if you're going etc. I live in NJ and it's an hour train ride so I figured why not....
