NYU Spring 2015 ABSN

Published

Hi everyone! I'm applying for the NYU Spring 2015 ABSN program and haven't been able to find any threads about the program yet. Feel free to post questions you have or to share information about the program, your personal stats, advice for writing the personal statement or just to say hi. Here's to speedy acceptances and a fun future in nursing! :)

My Stats:

Just graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.S. in Psychology and an overall GPA of 3.38

Got an A in almost all the pre-reqs, don't know the pre-req GPA

Volunteered as an EMT for 4 years and worked for 2 years

Worked as a Direct Care Worker for 1 year

Volunteer in Methodist Hospital in the Stepdown Unit

Hello there! I'm applying to NYU's ABSN as well. I'm sending my application to them in a week, as soon as my letter of recommendation gets sent back to me. I'd like to meet their October 1 ED deadline. It goes without saying that attending NYU will be beaucoup money, right? No plans regarding that, yet.

I spoke to many of the students currently in the program who are starting their last semester now, and they all recommended the program. Every single one of them, even with the insane tuition. I'm hoping to make the October 1 ED deadline too, just need to finish up the personal statement, I already for a recommendation letter and finished my prereqs.

On the plus side we won't need to wait 7 months for decisions, I was reading some of the threads for past semesters and some of those applying for Fall start were just waiting and waiting, its nerve wrecking already and I haven't even sent the application in yet!

When will admissions decisions be made ready? I know the session begins January, so perhaps November? I like the advantage of being able to begin the program early since many of the other ABSN programs start in the summer.

I graduated in 2012 and I'm already in crna school. Nyu prepared me VERY well. (I'm pretty sure the name, along with having clinicals all over the city meant a lot to my admissions committee)

Although I am not a second degree student , I did my traditional undergrad at nyu. (Traditional students are in the same classes as accelerateds...absolutely no difference)

@spaceshuttleboy looking at the threads for past spring programs it seems like decisions start coming within a week of the final application deadline. And same thing, I hate this waiting around right now, i'm working and volunteering but I went to get moving and be able to start learning how to be a nurse already. I hate the idea of waiting for the Summer or Fall to start.

@lmh364 congratulations on crna thats something i'm interested in, how is it? and is there any advice you could give on NYU nursing classes?

Hey everyone, I just finished my app a couple days ago (2nd time applying) I checked on Albert, and all it says is that my fee has been received...anyone know how long it takes them to show which transcripts have been received?

Hello everyone! I applied as a traditional transfer student. I sent in the common application August 1st and mailed all the recommendation letters and transcripts. I didn't see any priority attachment, I wonder if i can call and have someone answer that question for me.

I'm terrified, it's hard getting into that program specially if you are a transfer student. 28% get in who are transfers.

Moya, are you transferring from another nursing program?

Hey everyone ! I also applied to nyu for spring start. I graduated stony brook university with a bachelor's in science of health science with a concentration in emergency and critical care. My gpa from sbu was a 3.1 and my science gpa is around a 3.3 - 3.4. I've done some research at sbu, I was a teaching assistant and have spent many hours volunteering at the university's hospital. I am also cna certified and am currently volunteering at a PT office. My recc Letters are from an RN in the hospital and one of my professors for anp who is also a PA. I'm really nervous that my gpa isn't high enough. Any feedback from anyone ? Thanks :))))

Hey Petrichor,

How did you login to Albert? Did they send you a netid to login with or did you use the same username used to fill out the online app?
