  1. Thanks for responding, you guys. I thought about it, and as much as I do value being in the SICU, I feel I would have more freedom financially with this assignment, to pay down my loans and etc. (I'm pretty underpaid at the moment as a staff nurse.) It seems that most agencies are uniform in saying that after getting through the first one, all other assignments come by without difficulty, so this would open the door for me to return to the ICU on my next job, or even as a staff nurse somewhere else. Thanks everybody.
  2. Hey folks! I wanted to seek out your collective advice, if you'd be kind enough to help out. I've been considering traveling for a while, and have decided to explore some opportunities. I currently working in a Surgical ICU. I have a little less than a year's experience in critical care, but over a year as a RN altogether. While I would l love to remain in my ICU speciality, I've been offered my first assignment in a stepdown unit at a nearby hospital, which would pay me almost three times what I earn now. However, I would ultimately like to go to CRNA school and so I want to be able to eventually return to the ICU after this assignment. My questions for you guys are: - do you think I should take this assignment? - if I were to take this stepdown assignment, do you think I would still be allowed to accept ICU assignments in other hospitals in the future? Thanks guys!
  3. Maybe you'd have an anal fissure or hemorrhoids. It might to get scheduled into a colorectal clinic.
  4. I interviewed originally in October with the HR Recruiter, while still a student out of state. I moved back to WA immediately after graduation several days ago, and had my in-person interview just after I arrived here. I interviewed at one of the ICUs on the First Hill campus. The interview seemed to go very well, but that's my opinion. What campus are you on? Did you get your offer by phone from the HR recruiters, or from the managers who interviewed you? I'm hoping perhaps they'll let me know soon either way. Waiting in the unknown is difficult. I know the program begins towards the end of February. Congrats on getting in!
  5. Quiet forum. I thought there'd be more people here applying for this residency.
  6. Congrats! I know that the Residency is reputable for supporting the new grads with classes and simulations and mentorship before the new nurses begin working on their own. Would you mind saying if you are for the February cohort and how soon after your interview you received your offer? I interviewed for an ICU on Tuesday - peer interview - and it went very well, in my opinion. They showed me around the unit and seemed very engaging. But they said they'd let me know mid-January! I'd be grateful for any insight anyone could give.
  7. I've been scheduled for a peer interview in the coming week.
  8. I'm curious about whether anyone else has applied to Swedish's Feb 2016 cohort and recently heard any new information from the recruiters/nurse managers.
  9. I'm also applying to the residency at Swedish. They've told me that the new dates for February will be up in November.
  10. Does anyone know when applications for the January/February group will begin to open?
  11. I got my e-mail and a call this morning. I got accepted! Very satisfying feeling to have gotten into Johns Hopkins. Of course, I won't be accepting the offer because I'm already in a nursing program. Congrats to everyone else who got accepted, too!
  12. Wow, congrats. Which do you want to go to more? When are their start dates? If you can wait, it might just be a good idea for you to hold your space at one of these schools until JHU begins sending out decisions in a few months. I'd have really loved to go to JHU, but I think I'll apply for a nurse residency there after I'm done with my ABSN in December.
  13. I didn't apply for it. It was included with my acceptance. I found out about it when they called me to tell me that I'm in.
  14. The letters went out too. I received mine this weekend.
