Hi everyone! I'm applying for the NYU Spring 2015 ABSN program and haven't been able to find any threads about the program yet. Feel free to post questions you have or to share information about the program, your personal stats, advice for writing the personal statement or just to say hi. Here's to speedy acceptances and a fun future in nursing! :)
My Stats:
Just graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.S. in Psychology and an overall GPA of 3.38
Got an A in almost all the pre-reqs, don't know the pre-req GPA
Volunteered as an EMT for 4 years and worked for 2 years
Worked as a Direct Care Worker for 1 year
Volunteer in Methodist Hospital in the Stepdown Unit
Hey ReidKK, someone else asked admissions this question last cycle, and they said that it says regular decision for everyone regardless of the time that they applied. The system won't let them change it. So no worries. For those of you who applied for the Oct 1 early decision: When you check on your application status in Albert, does it say "regular decision" under Notification Plan? Just wondering if this is normal or if it should read "early decision". Thanks!
Do you know if the decisions are the same for everyone or do the people that applied before priority hear back sooner?
-I want to say that the people who submitted applications before Oct 1st hear back first, but its been all over the board in previous threads. I do know that decisions come out in batches, like the first group of people that hear are generally the people they definitely want and the people they definitely don't want. Then they usually wait to see how many people from the first batch accept or decline their offer (usually a lot of people decline because of the tuition or because they got into a "better school"), and then continue to accept/reject more. They tend to hang on to people that they aren't 100% sure about, and let them know in December based upon how many seats are left.
@Petrichor Hey Petrichor the unit I volunteer on had NYU nursing students during the Summer and all of the students I spoke to highly recommended the program plus the volunteer I just trained, who is a current NYU nursing student, is even thinking of going back to NYU for the masters. The nurses on my unit also have told me that the NYU program is good, the only thing they told me to think about was that really big NYU tuition.
When I went down to the NYU admissions office last week they told me to expect decision letters to start going out in mid November, hopefully sooner as i'm sure we are all sick of waiting, but just passing it on.
I'm seeing so many people on this site posting about being accepted to their spring-start ABSN programs. It's making me so anxious! haha
Just spoke to someone on the phone, they said regardless of being priority everyone will get their acceptance or rejection dec 15th. i hope they do it before but thats what the girl in undergrad admissions said
That's so far away! But it'll be a great birthday present if I get in! Good luck to everyone. Hopefully the decisions are made earlier.
Oh man I hope that isn't true. :/ I just found some information (posted below) on an admissions blog from last year stating that all decisions would be sent December 15th (like you said). But I think they are referring to freshmen, because for the past couple of years (according to the allnurses thread) most absn students received their decisions the first week of November. So there is still some hope that we could hear sooner =)

We are nearing the end our evaluation and selection process for students who have applied for Early Decision I admission. We are on schedule to complete our process late next week and will be in a position to mail all decisions via email on December 15. All decisions will be delivered via email. Admitted students will also be mailed a packet of important materials. No admission decisions will be available anywhere on our website – though each year, many applicants erroneously believe that any change to one’s self-service page of our NYU Albert website hints at an admission decision. Such changes do not and again, no admission decisions will be available on our website. Students who do not receive their admission decision on December 15 may call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 212-998-4500 on Monday, December 16, beginning at 9am, and one of our admission counselors will provide your admission decision by phone.
