I just started my application for NYU's ABSN program for Fall 2010. I heard they might not even be accepting applications for fall yet, though, since the spring deadline was only about a week ago. Is anyone else applying here for fall? Also, does anyone know what their average GPA for accepted students is? Would it help to submit my GRE scores even though they don't require it? Sorry I know its a lot of questions but I'm already nervous for admissions
Wow, now i'm scared... She gave us the impression that roughly 200-250 students would get into the program.. Also, she did tell us that out all of the freshman students that apply, about 15% of them get accepted. And, out of all the Transfer students that apply, fewer than 10% get accepted.
Hi Jason!
I'm with you! This whole thing is already driving me crazy and I'm not even applying until next spring!! I will be an internal transfer (freshman) in between NYU and they told me I need to get 30 credits before I can transfer. If you don't mind me ask you: where are you transferring from and what is your GPA? Experience?
I went to the open house as well and got a bit confused....not sure either what's the tot amount of freshman/transfer are taking total so I'm just trying to keep a good GPA. Everybody told me that an internal transfer is easier...but who knows anymore!
Good luck and keep us posted!

Hey Kika --I've been taking all my pre-reqs at BMCC in Tribeca. I did this because it's much cheaper and has all the course offerings! NYU is familiar with BMCC pre-reqs, because the admissions people were able to tell me what courses to take by specific course number! I registered as a non-matric, but in hindsight it's probably better to register as a liberal arts/sci major because the courses are cheaper and you have better standing for getting in to class. That being said, it is practically impossible to get in to the good teacher's classes at BMCC, because most students are vying for those classes because they are pre-clinical for the BMCC nursing program. The administration sucks, but I made a connect in the registrar (lots of brown-nosing), so I was able to get in to all my classes..Hope this was at least a little bit helpful!
BTW, go check BMCC summer 2010 course schedule.. I'm almost positive they're offering those classes in Summer Session I. If I were you I would look at all the CUNY schools (hunter/city/brooklyn cc..) because you will def find whatever class you need! I might take organic over the summer just to pump up my application for grad school (in the future)....YUCK!!!

Hi Elle!
Thank you so much for your post. I looked into BMCC downtown but they drove absolutely crazy!! The admin is helpless and I was tired of hearing one thing and then another. I chose the easy way (which is of course costing me a lot of $$$$$) but at least I don't have to deal with them! Do you have a degree in another field? I'm guessing everyone going for the accel at NYU already have a degree right? Or at least this seemed to be the requirement at the open house discussion.
Good luck!

Kika -- I hear you. The CUNY system is outrageously screwed up and inefficient lol! Yes I have a BA in Journalism & Psych from another private uni (not NYU). I believe you do need a degree to transfer in to the accelerated program, but perhaps they make exceptions for students who have almost enough credits completed..I'm not sure about that! Anyway you can still take the bulk of your pre-reqs at NY, but knock 1 or 2 of them out over the summer elsewhere..That would save a couple bucks ;-)

Damn... I am gonna call them tomorrow as well. I have a feeling they are going to get tired of us all asking for a rush on our application to be reviewed lol. Also, FYI, I was accepted to Lehman, LIU, and Adelphi. The deadline for LIU and Adelphi is May 1st.
is adelphis program in nyc? I applied to liu? what were ur credentials? I got denied. was the application process just application and grades sent to the undergrad as transfer and then if u got accepted u would be sent to the nursing department? i think i didnt even get into liu the main school...i hope u understand this question. i am so tired prob dont make sense
