RNrunner12 8 Posts Oct 3, 2013 I can't PM anyone but do you know if we can get hired by NYPres before the one year with nurse finders is up? I couldn't remember if she said that the nurses from the program that they started in June got hired full time by NYPres. Or are we definitely tied into that nurse finders contract and salary for the full one year?

RNrunner12 8 Posts Oct 3, 2013 I'm honestly not sure yet. Of course I would love to work there but my other offer I have starts soon and its the standard new RN pay. It just doesn't make sense to take this agency job for essentially half the money when I could technically work this other job for a year and then apply to work at my ideal hospital.
RNrunner12 8 Posts Oct 3, 2013 Also I thought she mentioned something about all the new RNs in June's program already have FT jobs but I could have misheard her... or maybe she meant they just work FT hours but still are under agency. I mean if there was a chance that we could get hired by NYP with their salary and benefits then I would suck it up for a few months but I couldn't do that for a whole year...
shadowness 110 Posts Oct 3, 2013 I got the same deal as you guys. Both agencies are apparently same thing. Im not sure what im going to do. I agree with the other poster that if it was a few months i could grin and bare it but this is a year. The salary is almost unfeasible. Id prob spend more on commute and food.. i understand they think new grads should get less but whether being precepted or working on your own they are both extremely hard work and we should be compensated accordingly.
teddygraham 80 Posts Oct 3, 2013 Yeah I agree. We need to find out what the deal is, like if we can get hired through NYP after 6 months or if it's a whole year. I'm gonna call tomorrow probably. Someone else from NYP also called me today and essentially did a mini phone interview and asked what kind of units I would want to work on then said she'll be in touch within the next few weeks to come in for an interview. I didn't mention the new grad program stuff but I feel like I should call back tomorrow and tell her? But still ask about opportunities through NYP? Idk what to do
lola27RN 4 Posts Oct 5, 2013 Hello I also recently received the same offer for the med/surg float program through an agency and have the same concerns . The pay is really really low and there aren't many benefits. It seems like a really good program but at the same time its still very unclear if we will be "guaranteed "a position with NYP after the program ends. I have another offer at a city hospital also with "ok "pay but great benefits. I know as a new grad you cant be picky but this is a really tough decision. It really would be great to get in contact with one of the new RNs from the June program.

DoGoodThenGo 4,124 Posts Oct 7, 2013 Sounds like NYP has taken a page from the corporate/business world in regard to hiring "temps" and or other employees that are not taken on as permanent full time employees.This is getting ridiculous, people need to start rioting in the streets before this country is reduced to a workforce largely made up of less than full time/minimum to nil benefits/ low wage positions.
