Public Health v Research v Bedside
Hi all, Background: 1 year inpatient med-surg pediatrics at a top hospital Current situation: looking for new nursing job due to recent move, exploring options So I recently moved to the Boston area and am looking for new jobs. I always thought I would continue with my inpatient pediatric experience eventually making my way into an ICU then go to school for my NP and work as a pediatric NP specifically in pulmonology or cardiology. I have always been intrigued by public health. What interests me most is helping underserved populations and the idea of being in disaster relief nursing. Recently, somebody brought Biotechnology into the picture. I hadn't explored this option, but now I am. I could get an entry level position as a Clinical Research Associate and climb the clinical ladder. I'm just not sure what to do. I can tell you that if I could create my ideal job, it would be on a study in pulmonology, pain management or one of the diseases that affects these poorer countries (ex: ebola) and I would get to travel all over to get samples from study participants which would fulfill my desire to still have the patient interaction while also fulfilling my desire to travel and expose myself to healthcare in other countries. In a perfect world, the study would be awesome and lead to some great advancement in medicine. Where do I find this job? I'm so conflicted as to what path to follow, so anyone with public health knowledge, research knowledge or anything else that relates, feel free to leave your opinion!

Where to live in boston
Hi all, I'm hoping to move to boston mid February and work in the Longwood area. I'm wondering where most nurses like to live in the boston area and what's affordable but nice. Thanks in advance!

Medical Spanish Immersion
Thanks! I checked them out. I think I've decided I'm mostly interested in going Argentina or Costa Rica. Do you have any suggestions for those?

Medical Spanish Immersion
Hey everyone! I've been an RN for a little over a year and I want to take a month or so off and go somewhere to learn medical spanish. I took spanish in high school but don't speak it very well. I'm looking for a 4 ish week spanish immersion program ideally that teaches medical spanish. So far, Amerispan is my top choice. I'm very open to Latin America but I would love to go to Spain. Does anybody have any suggestions or programs they like? Thanks!!

Boston Children's Hospital
Hi all, Just wondering if anybody has any insight on Boston Children's Hospital. I currently work in NYC but hoping to relocate to Boston in the fall. By the time I move, I will have 1 year nursing experience on a general pediatric floor. Ideally, I would love an ICU position or something on a respiratory/pulm unit. I'm curious how much experience is needed for either position, what the application process is like, how happy the nurses are, salary expectation etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

NYP New grad position
I'm sure there will be other people that post on here that will be I'm the same boat as you, but if you read back, it should prepare you for quite the waiting game. I applied to the new grad posting in April and I'm starting work next month at NYP but through an outside agency. So be prepared to wait haha it's rough

NYP New grad position
I have a semi dumb question for anyone that wants to answer. I'm going to nursefinders tomorrow to complete my paperwork, obviously I've already interviewed and got offered a job. So am I still supposed to dress professional? Or can I wear normal clothes (normal-niceish clothes)?

NYP New grad position
I'm not really sure, I'm just gonna follow through with nursefinders and if NYP calls and wants me to interview before I sign anything, then yay but otherwise, the nursefinders thing is still good. Honestly, I have a ton of loans to pay off and I need money but then again, I have my whole life for that, I can spend a year making sub par money, no biggie. I'll PM you what the interview will be like though.
