RNrunner12 8 Posts Oct 7, 2013 Did anyone call and get more information on this new grad med/surg program? Like find out if we could get hired by NYP sooner than 1 year. Also Lower Manhattan Hospital called and said they have OR positions but I said I was more interested in med/surg and they told me that there might be positions opening up soon so hopefully they call sooner than later now..

shadowness 110 Posts Oct 8, 2013 as hard of a decision as it was, i decided to turn down that position at the agency today. it is simply not feasible for me to agree to the contract that they were offering. it really sucks because i have been looking for work for a while and the economy isnt getting any better. my feeling is that although i have about 7 months experience and it is not much, nurses deserve to get paid more than what they even get paid now. i have been there and done that with my last job and whether you are "training" or not you will be worked to the bone; believe it. one year was a bit too long of a commitment even if it meant being at a great hospital. in the end, you don't know where life will take you in 1 year time and i couldn't be sure how great it really would be. im just praying that nyp will still consider me for jobs directly with them but for now all i can do is wait i'd like to add that although new grads don't have on the job experience yet we did work 2-4 years and take a state licensing exam for a reason. i get it and all but i think a lot of this is just an excuse to save money. i dont blame hospitals for it but it is still a shame
teddygraham 80 Posts Oct 8, 2013 Agreed. I'm waiting to hear back from HR about when there might be another position because I'm okay waiting it out if it means double the pay. It's logical from a business standpoint to have the program run by agencies but it sucks for us.
RNrunner12 8 Posts Oct 10, 2013 I actually took the other job offer. Its at a small community hospital on a tele floor day position which I know is a red flag for a day position to be available to a new grad but oh well its a job.. Gotta start somewhere
tuxedopenguino 51 Posts Oct 10, 2013 Hello everyone,I actually got an interview with Nursefinders next Tuesday...does anyone know if we are working for this agency, if we will still be a part of the NYP New Grad Residency program? How was the interview? I'm surprised they start so low, but I haven't had any luck so far with getting any interviews yet so most likely I'll take it if offered! Thanks!!
RN4008 56 Posts Oct 11, 2013 Someone called me from NYP today and asked my preferences between Neuro, OR, and the new graduate float program, but then she asked if i did the new graduate program if i would want to do it through ANM or NYP? She said ANM was the company they used? But i thought they were using nursefinders...does anyone know anything about this?
shadowness 110 Posts Oct 11, 2013 awesome kat! i believe that ANM uses nursefinders to register people so it is one in the same. Gotham is another agency that is a sister company of ANM. What did you tell her? I really hope they call me too but nothing yet
