Nursing Wearing Sandals To Work?????eeeeeeeekkkkk!!!

Published

I have a problem with this one LPN I work with, she actually wears sandals to work!!!!! I cringe every time I see it. I work for the state of KY and at our facility they don't say anything to her they just say if something happens then it's on her not them. I was always taught you wear leather shoes and your foot was to be completely covered. Any one have any thoughts?

What a disgusting health hazard.

Exactly, I Wouldn't Want To Even Dream Of What could Happen!!!!!

Ewwwwwwwwwww. I'd have a blood pedicure every night.

Here Is An Idea...accidently Spill Hot Coffee On Her Toes, Or Accidently Step On Her Foot And I Bet She Would Have Reeboks On The Next Day.....hehe

Nahhhhh she's not that smart!!!! :chuckle

Just YUCK!!!!!!

In all actuality, though, if something did happen, she would have a valid Workers' Comp claim. They didn't state a dress code and they didn't promote a known safety practice. She's a big WC claim waiting to happen and they're being stupid about it. You can't just say "oh, it's not on us!"

WCB states appropriate footwear must be worn. We are told that even clogs leave us in violation because the heel area is open and we could be hit from behind with a wheelchair.

Kind of like the spilt coffee idea though.

I loved my Birkies but did get hit from behind with a wheelchair!! OUCH!!! Changed to my Reeboks very quickly after that. Sandals are inappropriate in the clinical setting.
