Nursing Wearing Sandals To Work?????eeeeeeeekkkkk!!!

Published

I have a problem with this one LPN I work with, she actually wears sandals to work!!!!! I cringe every time I see it. I work for the state of KY and at our facility they don't say anything to her they just say if something happens then it's on her not them. I was always taught you wear leather shoes and your foot was to be completely covered. Any one have any thoughts?

That's all I can say..........ewwwwwww!

Not only do you have to think about your foot germs spreading around, and who knows what landing on your feet (YUCK), but what sick person do you know that wants to look at someone's nappy feet?!? Gross!!!!

My work shoes don't even come in the house. If I were to wear sandals, I'd have to take my feet off and leave them outside the door. That might freak out the mailman.

:rotfl: My work shoes live out in the garage -- when they are not at the hospital -- I wonder if my family would notice if I left my feet out there?!

The whole sandal idea is nasty! NASTY! NASTY!! Between blood, and all the other lovely things we get to walk through -- and all the equiptment, patients, etc. that could squish those little piggies -- NO WAY!!

Some people are just stupid, I believe she got her nurses license out of a cracker jack box. LOL Will she ever learn? Bad part about it, she has been a nurse for about 20 years. She is 52 y/o you would think she would know better!!!

i had a female colleague that got scabies on the top of her foot (whilst wearing sandals), we deduced that she washed 'em off her hands and splashed 'em onto her feet!

has anyone ever asked her why she wears sandals, she may just be hot.

Just curious--are you saying sandals as in no socks, or is she one of those people who wears socks with sandals? Either way, it is inappropriate in the clinical area. I don't even think most office jobs would consider sandals as appropriate attire.

Gee, i wouldn't even consider wearing open toe or open back shoes. Not only does it sound uncomfortable, but look at the possible safety hazard as another poster mentioned. :uhoh21:

Sandals in healthcare! That is just wrong, wrong, wrong! :nono:

Our dress code says that no open toe shoes, you have to wear socks or stockings with your shoes. I'm sure most places have a similar dress code!

Several years ago, we had a medical resident who wore Birkie sandals all the time... no socks. He was doing an ER fellowship... and now he works in the ER at my current hospital. I've only seen him once since I came here, and the first thing I did was look at his feet!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: They were appropriately covered. How disappointing... NOT!!!!!

No socks or anything just open toe leather sandals!!!! Thank God it's getting cooler now that I don't have to look at her ugle toes!!!!! Talk about the need for pedicure!! She just says that she is comfortable with them instead of tennis shoes
