Nursing Shoes

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has tried Nurse Mates shoes and if they are comfortable? We are required to have white leather shoes and I thought about ordering them. Also are they true to size? Any other suggestions would be welcomed also! Thank you for your time!

I bought those for my pre-nursing clinicals (4 hours per week) and twisted my ankle twice that semester. They were so heavy and clunky I had to get rid of them.

:wideyed: That's scary!

I think it's because I always wear shoes with thin soles and that are flexible. I suddenly switched to a thick inflexible shoe, and I felt so awkward and clumsy walking.

Dansko Profesionals or Sanita. If you look at the hospital RN's that seems to be what 50-75% wear(in my experience).

Not in my ER. They all wear regular tennis shoes.

I love my Nurse Mates! So comfy and no break in period :)

Specializes in Peds, Float, Ambulatory, Telemetry (new).

Nurse mates are comfortable. But the pair I once had made me roll my ankle on numerous occasions and my feet ached like crazy! But that was just one pair out of the many they have. But I swear by Dansko. No pain after a 12 hour shift is amazing.

I tried on Danskos but the store I was in didn't have the professionals and they didn't have anything in white in my size. I went for the Nurse Mates Doves instead -- I figured they were a good place to start. They felt comfy when I tried them on, and they were very true to size.

I start in the fall. Maybe I'll spring for some Danskos as a graduation gift to myself.

Thank you all so much! Now I have somewhere to start!

Sheesh, I remember the old days when all we had to worry about was shoes with NON-CONDUCTIVE soles. Comfort? What was comfort? There weren't too many options then.

I own two pairs of NurseMates. I LOVE them! My feet never hurt after a day and they are very comfortable. Also true to size. Good luck in the Fall :-)

Specializes in Developmentally delayed.

They have to be leather or just white? I bought sketchers nursing shoes, they look like crocs with backs and no holes, ugly as hell, but they are solid white with no markings, can be cleaned with anything, are comfortable and were cheap ($25), but they are plastic which I actually like because I Lysol them right after I leave the hospital ;)

Thank you Rlnursing student!

And unfortunately they have to be leather and white :/
