only in nursing school...does instructor A contact instructor B to validate if you were in fact ill when you emailed to say you were sick last week. then instructor A confronts you because you attended an exam worth 33% of your grade in instructor B's class. dont they have papers to grade or something to do other than investigate the reasons for my absence?! Im a senior in nursing school. You are my instructor. If I dont want to come to class I dont have to tell you. I was just being courteous. And I was sick! :angryfire
what are yours?
Im almost done and so glad its almost over!!!
Only in nursing school clinicals - will your teacher come in while you are with a patient and their family, make you sound incompetent... Followed by you resuming your duties and the family staring at you as if you are holding a large scalpal and ready to amputate the patients leg. Its just a brief change - relax!!! My teacher was complaining about me taking a break on time, not the care related to your loved one!
Only in nursing school do they have a plan of action in case of an H1N1 pandemic in the SYLLABUS, but in the same breath, say you cannot miss more than one class and be allowed to pass.I seriously love nursing school.
No kidding!! We got told that if we actually test positive for H1N1, our absences won't count against us. Of course, the local docs have given up testing so we can't actually get the test. I'm fairly certain I had it and dragged my butt to school at the tail end of the illness (fortunately I was sickest during our fall break). I just couldn't miss the tests we had that day. Oh well.
Also, only in nursing school do all of us students freak out if we get a B on our tests. Seriously, we've all done it, and all had mini panic attacks.
Only in nursing school will an instructor tell you to reference your book to challenge a test question, then when question is challenged state "Well that's not what I said in class."
Only in nursing school will above mentioned test challenges be renamed to "test clarifications" (as in "let me clarify why you are still wrong")
Only in nursing school will a clinical instructor ask if you speak Cambodian ("No. :stone Sorry. I speak English. Cambodian was not a prerequisite for this program").
Only in nursing school will an instructor tell a student that they will probably fail and that she needs Jesus (complete with gift of prayer book).
Only in nursing school can you talk about bodily functions with your classmates and not be grossed out.
But I love it! :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe
(Almost done, May '10 here I come!)
Only in nursing school can your clinical instructor show up 1 hour and twenty minutes late and1. we wait for instead of leaving
2. we call her at home and woke her up
3. have her make us stay 1 hour and twenty minutes late to make sure we actually got our clinical hours!!!
No kidding, msdeannah! One of my instructors is habitually late (by 20 mins) and because, you know, according to him, he's just human and life happens, but you show up one second past class start time, you are dog meat. Dog meat needs his advice on time management to add insult to injury.
