Stethoscope with Cooties
I think I am going to go broke buying Stehoscopes. On my last clinical rotation, I had to care for someone who was on a contact precaution. It was mandatory to don PPE before I stepped into the room and my instructor guided me on the protocol ie: take off the gown and gloves at the door before I stepped out of the room. My instructors doesn't allow us to use the electronic equipment to take V/S. I had to take the persons BP with the manual cuff and used my stethoscope. I wanted to throw up because the pt was in bad shape. I felt that I contaminated my stehoscope, not only with the diaphragm touching the pt skin but by me touching the tubing and the ear pieces while performing the procedure. Awk, at the end of the day I just threw the stethoscope away.

How do you clean the white Landau nursing shoes?
Use the hospital toothbrush and soap.

No cellphone policy at work? What about PDAs?
It was mandatory that the students in my program get a PDA. Mostly everyone got the Itouch. It is very useful. I think the hospitals wants you just to be professional in reference to the cell phones. They dont want to see you talking on the phone will conducting business.

Nursing student giving me the creeps.
TreehuggerRN: You and these men. What is going on? He may be a nice guy and he may be roughneck, but I would have overlooked all of that and checked him on his professionalism. Don't shy away of what you are working with, everybody has a purpose, maybe he could have been that one to help lift a heavy patient. But let it go, he is not going to be there forever and you are so funny LOL.

Any "50-ish" Pre-Nursing Students?
Go for it and your babies will be so proud of you.

instructor problem
Zele, I just want the BEST for you and anyone (myself included) that works hard to be on their "A Game" in Nursing School so that the experience can be transformed into producing better Nurses. You will do well, stay focus, and don't give up, YOU'VE INVESTED TOO MUCH.

Hi everyone, new nursing student here..just a few questions
Its good to get everything over with but don't overload yourself because if you mess up in your Nursing classes everything else is out the window. If I were you I would take a PE class only because I wouldn't want to get off course with my Nursing classes. Its good to get the pre-req's out of the way but its also important to obtain the grades to stay in your program. If you don't get the grades to stay in Nursing the other classes won't mean anything. You said that you have to take A&PII, your taking Patho and Pharm in the summer, when do you plan on taking Microbiology?

instructor problem
I have communicated effectively and would never intentionally insult anyone. I wish everyone the best, but the fact of the matter is if we as students dont take the Instructors interactions and turn it into the betterment for ourselves, we would not prosper effectively in a real situation where there is madness and chaos. I Thank-you for weighing in and making your contribution. I am always open for constructive advice.

instructor problem
I am one of those "A" students who have learned to put a "H" on my chest and Handle It. I have had terrible and cruel instructors but I know that in this profession you are going to encounter so many different people (GOOD AND bAD) and its imperative for you to learn how to handle yourself under trying conditions while maintaining calmness and professionalism. Most often it begans with the interaction with the Instructor.

instructor problem
Zele, I am not angry nor did I insult you. The point that I am attempting to get across to you is to learn to use a setback as a stepping stone for advancement. LEARN to take an unfortunate situation and turn it into a positive attribute for YOURSELF because that will prepare you for the real world. As someone has indicated in their previous post you sweat today so that you won't bleed tomorrow. If you take the time and be confident in yourself, you will never let anyone allow you to deviate from your normal behavior, you will learn to be a calm professional in a trying situation. I am not going to sugarcoat anything for you because you need to learn how to handle yourself in an adverse situation in the classroom before you go to any clincal site. If you dont take this advice as a GIFT, the best thing I can tell you is that you will hate me now but you will thank me later. I wish you all the BEST.

im Wrong? PLZ tell me
I didnt read your entire post cause it made me dizzy, however just looking at the first question is telling me your problem. You have to think by applying and not by memory. I dont know what theory you are following in your program but the first thing I was taught in my Nursing program was to follow OREM's Theory. If you followed OREMS Theory you would see that FOOD is third in hierarchy of Needs and must be satisfied before "Halo around lights/objects etc." So yes, You might have read that Halo around objects is one of the side affects (thats relating it to what you memorized), but applying the material to a theory is what you should focus on and had you done that you would have seen that a Poor Appetite would have been the answer without doing any further research.

Hi everyone, new nursing student here..just a few questions
Wow, What school accepted you?, I had to take A/P II before I could apply to my program. Stats is not hard, but considering what you are taking, I would take a PE class as well. You are going to need it :specs:to release the stressors of those classes.
