Burnt out already???
Thank you so much for your kind replies. I am definitely not dropping out at this point, just out of principle. I think that it is wonderful that many of you know exactly what your passion is! Its already encouraging to see someone who is so excited about a specific area of nursing. This makes me positive that maybe i will find my passion someday. A vacation sounds like a good idea, i'm just scared that i will lose momentum and will waste some of my efforts that i have put into this final rotation. I did an assignment on this topic and found out about some of the ways to handle the stress and become a little more optimistic again. But again, its wonderful to see how supportive you all are, its is really appreciated. *Hugs*

Burnt out already???
I am aware that many people have posted here about being anxious at a new job, getting depressed because of med errors and so on. My issue is a little different. I am currently in my last practicum and will finish school in December. It is a 4 year program so it is safe to say i am a little tired of school. My problem is, however, that i no longer feel passionate about nursing. I remember the feeling i had when i first helped a patient, how empowering it felt. I no longer feel anything like that. I'm not particularly tired or anxious, I am simply apathetic. Being placed on the medical floor i constantly see how many people do not get better and the flaws in our medical system. That makes me...almost depressed? I just feel really unmotivated all the time, and although i am providing care according to professional standards i feel that the personal component of my nursing practice is just not there anymore. When i talk about it to more senior nurses they just give me weird looks and responses like "You are still a student, you are not supposed to feel this way already". I would appreciate any sort of feed back. Maybe there are individuals who have felt this way as well and can provide some advice.

instructor problem
Litenbug, I appreciate your advice. I understand your perspective, the reason I was offended is because "tough love" is just not what I needed in this situation. But thanks anyways. I do hope you have a great day in clinical!

instructor problem
Bug Out, Connie1109 and itsmejuli, thank you for your advice!!! :) litenbug, I understand that you are very frustrated with your classmates, what they did was very selfish. However, insulting me just so that you can vent your anger is not necessary. Like I said before, I am confident in my theory and all my prior clinical experiences have gone well. This semester my instructors approach made me deviate from my normal behaviour and therefore I was seeking some advice on this site. If you have a problem with your classmates you should confront them yourself instead of beatching and moaning here. Same goes to goodnursingstudent.

instructor problem
Ok, so i'm guessing that this issue has been discussed many times, but my problem is a little different. I'm in the end of my second year out of four now, so in clinical I know what I'm doing (most of the time). I've had some confidence problems in the beginning, but they resolved after second semester. This semester is a total nightmare for me! I have a tough instructor, and it wouldn't be a problem, i had tough instructors before. However, every time she grills me, instead of being confident (b/c most of the time i'm on top of things) I'm on the verge of crying. With her I start doubting all my actions and after I talk to her I feel very incompetent. She is very old fashioned and some things that she is very picky about having things done her way. I try to meet her expectations but sometimes its too much (i just run out of time, b/c other more important stuff needs to be done). Anyway, I have two weeks left, but I feel like i'm going to have a nervous break down. Im just very exhausted and i feel like i'm starting to lose passion in nursing Any tips would be nice, cuz i'm completely out of ideas!

a little discouraged
Don't be discouraged. What happened is truly heartbreaking and sad and thats life. I think that your experience will only make you a better nurse. I wish you the best of luck!

Stress!!!!!!
Hey guys!!!! I was wondering if any of you have any tips on how to deal with stress! I'm finishing my 1st year, and even though i'm more used to the workload by now I still find it extremely stressful. I constantly snap at people, i'm sleep deprived and always tired. Any advice on how to deal would be helpful!!!! Thanks!

working in uk
Is there any chance at all for canadian nurses to work in UK? Someone mentioned something about a "freeze", what exactly does that mean?
