  1. We use chlorahexadine for access to any central line for anything.
  2. If all goes well I will graduate in May with an associates in nursing and hopefully get my RN lisence sometime over the summer! I have been considering waiting to get a job and going straight for a bachelors degree at a four year school. I have been looking at some schools and it seems much easier to take another 2 semesters and get it over with! On the other hand, if I get a job first, my employer might pay for more schooling. I keep going back and forth with this and am wondering how other people are planning to do their bachelors.
  3. If all goes well I will be an RN by the age of 20. I am the youngest one in the program. Its a little scary to be going in for a job with so much responsibility before I am even legally considered responsible enough to have a drink I think I look young too...A doctor in clinical asked me if i was gonna be late for soccer practice, and then asked me how old I was.... infront of a patient. Being a young nursing student has its downsides and it can be very draining but in the long run you'll have more time to grow as a nurse and maybe even more!!
  4. Micro is amazing!! especially the labs. It really changed my perspective not to mention I washed my hands more!! Summer classes are really great .... you seem really prepared so im sure its not needed but Good Luck!!
  5. Hi everyone, I have one more year to go before I finish the program!! Last semester I was struggling in the beginning, failed the first two exams so I quit my part time job and buckled down and got As on the last two exams and finished med-surg with a B. But now that school is over, I dont know what to do with myself!! I got my job back but the resturant buisness does not exactly help me prepare for whats coming. I want a job in the health care field to get experience, applied to a couple hospitals for per diem tech positions but nothing back yet. I was wondering if anyone can think of things I could do over the summer that would help get experience!! Im open to anything that would help!!
  6. I agree with this. The best parts 1. When a patient thanks you for all of your help 2. After the first time you do a skill right and want to do it again and again. 3. Making great friends in nursing school (we get really close because of all of the suffering we go through) 4. Starting to understand what is going on on the medical tv shows. 5. getting an "ah-hah" moment of "this is what I want to do 6. getting a test back that you did great on because you really earned it. yeah care plans suck, clinicals are rough sometimes, class is long, instructors are tough, the reading lists are long. But those worst parts are what make us good nurses. If nursing school wasn't hard imagine what hospitals would look like. If you always look at the positives than you will get through it.
  7. Hi everyone! This is my second semester in clinicals and i'm doing pretty well so far, but when it comes to clinical, I still feel like a bumbling nervous clutz! I was just wondering what some of you do to survive! What are some things you do to get organized and stay calm?! any advice would be much appreciated.
