Nursing school with a GED.

I just graduated last fall from a RN program and I have my GED. I didn't have any problems getting in to school with it, so you shouldn't either. Good luck!

I was told it would be very difficult for me to get into a nursing program because I have a GED and not a highschool diploma. I haven't taken my prerequisites yet but I don't wanna bother if I'm not going to get into the nursing program due to me having a GED. Are there any registered nurses here with a GED rather than a High school dipolma? I really don't know what to do... Or if me having a GED really matters. Help?

If you do well in your prerequisites, it shouldn't matter. Nursing schools usually just look at what prerequisites you have completed and what your GPA was.

GED or HS diploma=no difference.

I didn't even have a GED. I finished school in Ireland and had what is called a Leaving Cert. I had it translated to US format and had no problem. As long as you have an equivalent to the High School Diploma, you'll be fine.

Whoever told you that does not know what they are talking about. I just got accepted to nursing school and i have my GED. I actually am going to a community college, but i also applied to a BSN program and i found out that they were gong to accept me had i not turned it down, and they knew all about my GED. I used to think because i did not actually graduate from high school and get a high school diploma that i was not good enough for some things(i.e college) but a GED is the EQUIVALENT of a high school diploma, not something second rate.Thats what my college adviser told me when i had some concerns about it. So congrats on getting your GED that is a major accomplishment, you don't know how many people are to afraid to go out and get one, And good luck in pursuing you Nursing career.

Ditto to what the other posters said! The only thing I would add is that I know most of the schools where I live require that you have taken chemistry and biology with labs during high school with a grade of C or higher. If you haven't had those as part of your GED prep they offer what they call developmental courses which will substitute.

I have classmates that have GED's that are pre-nursing students (although some have been offered clinical seats). Having that GED is no hindrance to them at all. In fact, not having it could be a hindrance, as the one was told she would not be admitted without her GED.
