your best bet for finding a range in the area you live will be on salary.com
i've heard of different parts of the country having as much as a $10 difference per hour for new grads... considering cost of living, degree received, etc
new grads in az are pulling anywhere from 26-30/hr, if they can find a job
I am not trying to be rude or nosey, but I was wondering if you guys could give me an estimate of what you make a month? How long have you been a nurse and what is your specialty? What area do you live in?
There is absolutely nothing rude about trying to get an estimate of a profession you are intending to go into. Just as with any profession, you assess the viability of that profession. While it will be very gratifying for you to have a passion for the profession,it is not exactly a requirement.
As long as you are competent at nursing, can empthasize and advocate for your patients as you should, you will be fine.
First of all I challenge the people who say that "you shouldn't get into nursing if you are in it for the money" to quit taking a pay check and work for noting and then come on here and tell us how much they enjoy it. I know my family would not be in favor of it. Second, most states have different starting salaries and can be quite different from state to state and even facility to facility, but in general your looking at 20-30 an hour to start.

6 years as unit secretary.3 years LVN, 1 year RN on med/surg/trauma unit.... started off at 27.45/hr in orange county Calif. after a year I am at 29.75/hr. I get 100 dollar bonus for a fourth shift in a week, full time with all the benefits I dont pay for. I can go per diem and get paid 41 dollars an hr. From what I hear we are the lowest paid hospital but I dont know casue I haven't worked anywhere else. I do work gestry and they pay me 500 dollars per shift straight pay as a RN.. hope this helps.
new grad rn -ltc/rehab: 28/hr weekdays & 30/hr weekends. i think that is lower than average in new jersey because i have a couple of friends who make more. but my benefits is excellent and much better than theirs so i am not complaining.
nothing wrong with asking how much money you will be making in your career. i initially did this for the money when i first did my lpn program. but i know i am a caring person and smart enough to be a nurse so no problem there. but even if you are doing this mainly for the money and "job security", you can take care of me and my family anytime as long as you know what you are doing and act as a professional.
