Why Jahi's Mother doesn't think she is dead:
Why Jahi McMath's Mom Is Sure Her Daughter Isn't Brain Dead - ABC News
I'm guessing this will stay on the forefront of this 'mother' until she pops out another one. Then again, dead kids have brought her more $$ than live ones....
Jahi's mom is a grandmother now. Her eldest (late teens (17/18 I think) gave birth a month or so ago. It's a family cycle. The grandmother had her first late teens , so did mom (apparently 4 kids by different fathers) and now the oldest daughter is a mother. Perhaps that's why the mother is obsessed with Jahi's alleged menarche. The IBRF started a fundraiser seeking $500K to "treat" this poor, innocent, beautiful child.
Jahi's sibling HAD to have a child. The welfare money she was getting for Jahi would have dried up when she was declared dead, and that income needed to be replenished, so someone in the family had to step up to replace those funds. The mother is in NJ with Jahi's body while her other children in are Cali being cared for by extended family. She is not only abusing a corpse but also neglecting the her live children.

You believe one of her siblings produced a child to kick up the take home pay?
Okay.

I don't agree.

I have no insights or opinions on how widespread this sort of thing is, but I have personally witnessed conversations between low-income single moms about when they need to get pregnant again in order to avoid losing their WIC benefits. It does happen ... I've spent years in child psych working with families who didn't really want (and were pretty open about it) their child's psychiatric issues to improve because they were getting SSDI for the child and needed that income to keep the family going. I'm not saying it's right or wrong (also have no opinion about that), but, IMO, it's simply unrealistic to not recognize that there is a pretty good-sized chunk of the US population that exists entirely on public benefits, and, like all the rest of us, they will do what they need to do to survive and support their families.
I am not Mary Sunshine nor am I naïve.
There's a million stories in the naked city.
I find little viability in the thought that this particular situation would have one sibling producing a child for the family coffers.
I would be more inclined to believe she did it as a way out of the situation to find some independence with services.
JMHO

Yes, I've also worked with any number of teenage girls who talked about wanting to get pregnant because, if they did, the state would pay for them to get an apartment and provide income for them to live on, which would enable them to get out of their parent's home. However, IMO, it's kinda splitting hairs to differentiate that from having a child in order to provide more income for an existing family -- it's still having a child because of the income the child will bring into the home.
It's just sad that some cannot rise above the same life their parents provided them as children. Not enough of them recognize their worth or skills. Some stop the cycle, but not enough. The fact that people continue to donate money surprises me a tad bit. Usually these stories fade out of the spotlight, and so then does the $$$. This family is a prime example of the dysfunctions that exist in the world today.

I will always have a passing interest in this till it has a final curtain call.
It has been morbidly fascinating watching how it has played out.
My dirty little secret.
