The Story of Jahi Continues

Published

You believe one of her siblings produced a child to kick up the take home pay?

Okay.

"Crickets"

I don't agree.

Yes, I do. This is all about money for them.

Me too. It's like watching a car accident, I just can't look away.

More like a train wreck.

How about more like galaxies colliding!

Question - what is Jahi's cardiac status? Does she have a pacemaker?

No pacemaker reported. A healthy heart only needs oxygen and balanced electrolytes to beat. There are you tube videos of hearts extra corporal supplied with needed electrolytes & oxygen beating.

She is probably getting a cocktail of electrolytes as well as bp meds, and it's pretty obvious she can't regulate her tem from the pile of blankets in the photos. I wonder how many times she has coded in the last year though. Also wonder about vent pneumonia, after a year she has to have had that at least once.

I've only been a member for a couple of weeks, and spent time reading some of the old Jahi threads. The whole thing is some kind of nightmare, starting from her bleeding to death and coding after a tonsillectomy to her family trying to get the state of California to declare Jahi is 'alive' and not dead.

I don't get why people are so ANGRY at the family, or making jokes about Jahi being a corpse. It's not like I need an explanation from anyone for the anger, I just don't get why it's taken so personally to the point every bit of info we hear about or from the family is like target practice for people (not just nurses but the whole public) to shoot down or be the butt of some weird black humor.

I totally get 'black humor', I've found it necessary to get through a lot of situations. It's just how furious, indignant and mean the comments have been and continue to be. Like everything this family does is some kind of attack on our sensibilities. No offense meant to anyone here, I just don't get how angry people seem to be. From tax payers footing the bills to care for a child with no brain stem to misuse of welfare benefits, why are these folks 'worse' than anyone else (including corporations)? I don't get why they are such pariahs deserving such nasty insults and gossip. Please, don't bother 'explaining' :D , I just wonder if anyone else wonders what I wonder :)

Well I'm just guessing it's because first they seemed to want what was best for Jahi, but then they dined out on 'Jahi's dime' (the money the got from the innocent people's donations). Expensive steak & lobster dinners & buying Michael Kor's purses don't buy many fans. Then the longer this draws on, the many posts of shopping sprees & ignoring their other kids don't leave a good taste in other people's mouths.

It's not just here, it's the general consensus. I've read comments from news outlets & everyone is growing tired of the families antics.

Instead of just accepting the 5 doctors when they said Jahi was dead, they have been grabbing at straws to try to find anybody who will say she is alive. Now their actions don't just speak of grief stricken parents but of money hungry parents. Their actions will say a lot when the rest of her body gives up.

The anger is VERY easy to understand.

1. They are desecrating the body of a young girl for financial gain.

2. They are neglecting their other children, to the point of leaving them with other relatives a half of a country away. These are young kids who not only are having to get by without their mother, but are having to live the nightmare of having a dead but unburied sibling. It is child abuse (perhaps not legally, but morally) and that makes everyone angry!

3. They are fundraising in the name of caring for the dead child and then using the money to buy designer bags and expensive liquor. The people donating may be ignorant, but they don't deserve to be ripped off.

4. They are trying to get Jahi declared alive so that they can benefit from tax dollars. Hit me in my wallet, and I'm gonna get angry, doesn't everyone?

5...and MOST important-we are all nurses on this site. We can only imagine the horrors of reporting to work each day to care for a dead child and her totally unreasonable mother for 12 hours. Having to spend shift after shift caring for that family is the stuff that inspires nightmares!

In short, compassion for Jahi, her siblings, everyone that is ignorant enough to believe the lies, and mostly for our sisters and brothers in scrubs makes us terrifically angry. The question is, why aren't you?

I have no insights or opinions on how widespread this sort of thing is, but I have personally witnessed conversations between low-income single moms about when they need to get pregnant again in order to avoid losing their WIC benefits..

A woman loses her WIC benefits as soon as she gives birth (or when she stops breastfeeding). Her CHILD continues to get benefits until age 5. At only about $50/month in WIC benefits, I find it REALLY difficult to believe that this is a widespread phenomenon.

In my state a woman can get WIC for a year if she is breast feeding, 6 months if she isn't.
