I'm really hurt and embarrassed.
I was in a study group with my math professor and I got really hungry. I didn't want to leave to go all the way to the dining hall to get something "healthy" to eat 'cause I was afraid I'd miss something in my group, so I went to the vending machine just outside the room and got a donut. When I came back in the room (I had already had a bite of the donut) my professor looked up and said, "that's nice, a nursing major eating a donut." I almost died. Everyone looked at me and said nothing I was really embarassed 'cause I am a little overweight and I realize that wasn't a healthy choice, but it really made me feel bad.
just needed to vent
Wow, that was really rude of the professor to say that to you!
People like that just tend to open their mouths and not care what comes out. I used to waitress, and I'm a very thin girl (been that way my whole life, I eat like a cow though, lol) and when I asked one of my tables if they would like dessert, the lady just looked at me and said "Do YOU even EAT dessert?" I just looked at her, said yes, and walked away- but, really, was that comment even called for? Some people can just be so rude! :angryfire Anyway, I'm sorry that happened to you.
Lol @ Marie. You seem like someone I'd like in person. That was very rude for the professor to say. Why do people assume that people in certain professions are supposed to be perfect role models. If that were true then all marriage counselors would have perfect marriages, all teachers would have straight A students, housekeepers would have spotless homes( I know a woman who is and although her home isn't nasty, it isn't spotless either). Anyway, you get my drift, people are only human and if it weren't for the fact that this guy has to give you a grade, I would tell him next time I saw him to kiss you were the sun don't shine.BTW- he'd better be glad I was not there, I would have had to say something on your behalf.
That's why God has her in the class instead of you :)
I agree...what a jerk.

I'm very thin girl ( I guess the right word is petite) myself and i definitely know what you mean, sometimes at my work females makes rude comments about my body like; you were size O and when I tell them i wear size 5 they shake their heads with disbelief on their face, like Im lying. God made this way and I dont see the reason why people have to discriminate skinny people, I would never approach a overweight person with a commant like that, but this is just me.
Hi Nemhain,
Let me just say, your professor is such a jerk! Nursing school is stressful and you just don't need that sort of commentary! I'm really sorry that you had to feel embarassed for simply calming a hungry stomach. I bet you every student in that room understood, so don't you worry about it.
Take care,
K

I probably would have laughed out loud, taken a huge bite for emphasis, and added "Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!
