It only defines a part of you . So what are some things you enjoy in your off time? Ive met so many special personalities here on allnurses. Some fiesty nurses, some sweet nurses, as well as some great student nurses. Ive been in nursing (officially since 2003) and it's a special part of my life, but one other thing that Im known for is my goofiness (which you may not see on this page) LoL! Anyhow, I like to write, do things with my husband and kids (amusement parks are my fav because I love rollercoasters!), I love museums, Im always trying new recipes, history is my fav subject, Im crazy emotional - I guess I could go on forever because Im also VERY TALKATIVE. Enough about me, what about you guys? What other things make you, you? :)
right now i am a new grad and i feel as though nursing is taking over my life and defining who i am, but i have found one hobby that gives me an out from work....roller derby! i love it!! i gotten to meet all sorts of people and it is a great workout. any other roller derby nurses?
hi lamesz! not in a roller derby though but i am thinking about it. my husband and i go skating at least 2 times a week for 3-4 hours. it's really a good workout and it's so much fun!

I'm a new nurse and just started rn-bsn program. So, unfortunately nursing takes up a lot of my life still.
BUT, I'm single with no kids that I know of (ba dum ch.) I'm 32 but still 18 at heart and love concerts, going out to see plays, netflix, learning to play guitar, hiking (my second favorite form of exercise), and reading. Oh, and cooking is one of my most favorite activities and my artistic outlet. International travel is high on my list. I want to go to Barcelona next.
Our flexible schedules in this profession really allow a ton of free time. Don't let nursing take over your life, let it give you the opportunity to enjoy the time you're not nursing.
I also think I might try my hand at home brewing wine or beer in small batches too. Shrug.

Hmmmm I am not sure what really defines me. I see myself so much differently then others see me. It always amazes me. So I wouldn't really know what to say for personality.
As far as Hobbies, Ummmmm I watch a lot of TV. I love going to movies and probably go to the movies once or twice a month if I can. I love going out to eat or ordering in but mainly because I loathe cooking. I can cook and I can cook good, I just hate to do it. I find nothing therapeutic about it. I love to read and read a lot. Almost an addiction. I love taking pictures and I would love to take photography classes. I bought myself this super cool new camera and I have no earthly idea how to use it. lol I take thousands of photographs.
I love to go camping and I love lake fishing. I would love to have a home in an isolated area with rolling hills and a creek flowing through my back yard. Just as long as I could get to good stores, food and shopping within an hour away and my house had internet. I love rollercoasters although now I am getting old they are not easy on my body. I love free flying rides where it feels like you are just soaring through the air.
I love to dance and have since I was a little kid and I love to sing. I used to be a pretty good scrapper but it's been a long time since a got into a physical fight which I am sure is a good thing. I am a pretty easy going person that just kind of goes with whatever. I am not easily frazzled.
I would like to learn to shoot a gun and go practice shooting a lot.
Oh and #1, I love to travel. I have seen a good part of the United States and been to Mexico a few times (nice spots, been to TJ and Juarez many times) but one day I will see so much more of the world. Italy being the top spot I want to go.
I am also the mom to 4 kids. 3 sons and then a daughter.
My job is just that, a job. It does not define me.
When Im off I love love love shooting. I have all sorts of weapons that we love to shoot. It is an amazing stress relieving tool. With that comes hunting. Music is also incredibly important. I am a mild audiophile so sound is important to me. I spend the time I have on the lake on a jet ski, or in the mountains hiking. When I am not at work, I am not thinking about anything hospital. I love being out there.

Well, my first love is NYC, born and raised. I love to explore the city, all of the boroughs, neighborhoods, nuances, especially when it's raining. :)
Second love is acting. I go to as many casting calls as I can, occasionally I get a bit part or two.
I am passionate about issues re: women and girls. I am trying to develop ways to use acting methods therapeutically with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. I truly think some techniques can help them identify, explore, and validate, and cope with the feelings they have self-medicated and suppressed.
I am also into amateur astronomy. Sometimes I wish I studied earth science.
But nursing rocks! So does this site and all who frequent it!! :rckn:
I just started work at a LTC as an LVN. I was a CNA there for a long while. Even though LTC has its bad parts, I find it intensely satisfying.
But I LOOOVE my days off! I cherish my time I can spend with my husband (when we are both off, which is rare unfortunately.) We found a cheap cheap cheap movie theater so if we can we always go and see something. My other favorite thing to do is take nice long drives. There's something therapeutic about buckling in, turning on the radio and just taking in the scenery. Working on my car is also big. Dad told me when I was little that I wouldn't leave his house without being able to change my own oil. Needless to say I picked up a little bit more than that
i am a mother, grandmother, and a wife, then a nurse lol. i love my profession, but it doesnt "define" who i am.
[color=#48d1cc]i love reading. i am a big ann rule, ann rice, and stephen king fanatic!! although lately, i have found myself reading true crime books about genene jones and about mothers who killed their babies and got away with it because the authorities at the time believed it was sids (wynetta hoyt and marybeth tinning cases).
[color=#48d1cc]i love spending as much time as possible with my 7 month old grandson! he is the light of my life and i love being with him.
