Hey guys! I asked about the 1099 form through the portal and got the following message yesterday:
"I apologize I do not have a better answer at this time. Our systems branch is reviewing the tax files and reconciling any missing documents."
I checked just now and my 1099 form has finally been uploaded. I should be good to go for filing my tax! Thanks again for your inputs!
Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experience with applying last year! There is so much good information on this thread! I am applying for this cycle and I'm so nervous. I have a 4.0 GPA for my A.A. in Liberal Arts-Health Science Transfer, and I'm going to an Accelerated BSN. I was just wondering if anyone who received an award last year could estimate the word count of their essays? I am really trying to focus on that portion right now in preparation for applying. I want them to really shine. I think it amazing to see so many people working towards thier goals! Thank you again for posting your experiences!
Hello and congrats on taking the first step to becoming a nurse! I'm about to graduate here soon and I couldn't be happier! My essays were all about 3/4 a page. I was straight forward honest to the point and really put my heart into it. I don't think they want s really long drawn out essay but something that gives a sense of who you are as a person and that you are genuine.

I second what JM12345 said. I also made my essays sound and flow differently by using a different writing style. Think about it...they have to read thousands of essays...make yours stand out so that they'd WANT to read it. Along with my grades, I think that's what helped me win the scholarship.
Also, I just want to say to everyone out there to make sure you really want to win this scholarship. Some people who have won this scholarship are having trouble finding work in their area and want to get out of the commitment. Or, they didn't know that they would have to pay taxes on the scholarship. Please read the pdf booklet in full before committing. It breaks my heart to see people complaining and trying to get out of the commitment when there were many other people who wanted this scholarship.
Take a look at the HPSA locator to find out if hospitals in your area qualify as eligible sites. Beware that site scores may change but this gives you an idea.
