If anyone else applying for the nursing corps scholarship 2015-2016 is anything like me then you've been googling like crazy trying to find out information on how to apply or what they need or even previous years winner. Soooooo.....if anyone is applying this year around or previously has and was or wasn't accepted please tell me your experience! Here are my stats PLEASE share yours if you'd like....

I received this scholarship last year and like your counselor said cancel the loan. They will send tuition to your school in October. Your school won't charge you late fees etc. because this scholarship is very widely known and once you are changed from Applicant to Participant the ball is rolling. Congrats!
Oh no I did reach out to the financial aid office to let them know about the scholarship since the first payment towards tuition was due august 10th. I asked the counselor if I should cancel my private loan and she said yes, not to worry about the payment due because it will be noted in their system that a scholarship will be coming in. I also read something within the scholarship guidelines document that they can only repay a loan for the summer and fall semester, and my loan was for the whole year. Maybe I should have just reduced the amount to only cover the fall semester.
Hi I am also from SC. We just moved from Charleston to Columbia. I was at Trident Tech and have now transferred to OCTech to do the ADN and the BSN at USC.
I am in the same boat. I keep checking my email and i have this niggling worry at the back of my mind.... what if? I dont know of anyone whose scholarship fell thru after they were in final review, but still!

It says you can get 4 years of funding in exchange for 4 years of service.
Yes, that is unfortunate, and I am sorry that you're going through the struggle. But I am a nurse, and as nurses, we are taught to give people the straight answer, and not sugar coat it, or give people false hope and have them "pray" thinking that they may still have a good chance when in reality the chances are extremely unlikely. Not being a debbie-downer here - just being realistic.
Also, if you haven't had a credit check by now, you can basically count yourself out of the running.
Hello I posted in the past and I gave my experiences. I applied last year and this year as well my status stayed under review until I received the email stating I was not a scholarship winner. I did not have my credit check last year or this year. I am a second degree student with a BA and Masters. As of today my status still says under review. Your status will not change untill you have been granted a finalist, or in the second or last phase. The ones who are waiting to have the status change will probably more than likely will not receive this award. Like mention before I think your essays and letter of recommendation plays a very strong part in their decision. Like I said I have been in health care 13yrs years as a Certified Medical Assistant and have worked in these shortage areas that they are requesting your service such as FQHC ( Federally Qualified Health Care Centers) for 3-4 years which I indicated in my essays and still have not been grant the award. So to me it's a luck of the draw, who reads your essays, and the personal feeling and attraction that the reviewer has at the moment, human nature that we put our lives in their hands.
So all who are still waiting good luck but have a back up plan. I waited and prayed all last year and this year as well, I am not a current student so letters of recommendations from school is hard to get and after 2 yrs of postponing school I have to apply again next year.
Hopefully other avenues open up, or maybe God's plan is not our plan and it is yet to come!!!
