Need Some Advise. Want to be an RN: late 30's AM I TOO LATE?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi, everyone. :rotfl: I'm new here and have been in my current career for eleven years. I've started looking into the RN field and was amazed by the different pportunities available. I also think that this career would be extremely rewarding, but I'm just in the beginning and not sure even where to start with schools, degrees, and even more research. I figure that if I want to make such a large career change I better make sure it's right. Can anyone who made a career change into nursing please offer some advice? Thank you! AND Thank you to all the RN's out there who provide that wonderful open hearted friendly care. We all love you!!!!:-) You've touched many lifes including mine.

Go For It!!! There's someone in my class right now, pushing 60! It's never too late. Age is just a number!!!

not too late! Average age of grads in the ADN prog at our school last year was....

42! Peice of cake-I'll be 41 when I finish.

i'm in my twenties and my closest friends from RN school were all above the 40-year-old mark... they're all working now and loving it! it's never too late to get into nursing and, if anything, having some "life experience" before entering nursing school (and your career afterwards) is a HUGE benefit to you...

so start applying to schools and good luck!

definitely not!

in my class of 62, i would estimate that 50% of us are over 30. you are never too old to further your education or start a new career.

good luck,

Nursing is one of a handful of careers that people frequently find later in life. It's not uncommon at all, so go for it!

I started at age 40...I think it's actually easier if you're a little older; you have more experience to tie your new knowledge to. :)
