How many of you have plans to vote for John Kerry at this point and why?

I am currently listening to him talk about what he would or wouldn't do to a group of people in the state of Iowa, and he sounds impressive. He knows foreign policy because he has served in the military himself, so that much I like about him.

Care to share? :)

Going to bed and sleep on this topic, and maybe by tomorrow I can wake up and come to allnurses and read some personal opinions about Kerry for president?????????? :D

Nighty night good people! :zzzzz

I like John Kerry. I think his problem is, he is too modest. A book just came out about him. He dared to care. In 1971 he testified before congress wearing his uniform, and gave his opinions of the war he had just fought in. He told congress we were there for all the wrong reasons. He has a good sense of humor. He can control his temper. Today on the news all I saw was dean throwing a pity party for being picked on. I am hoping he will get a good showing in Iowa, make the top 3. I also like Edwards, I think he is in a good place to be chosen Vice President. Let me just remind who GW's father chose for VP, Dan Quaile....

we could do a lot worse.

I like Kerry, but I don't think he has a serious shot at winning the nomination. I think Dean will get the nom. I'm rooting for him.

I will support the Democratic Candidate, no matter who it is.

Before Iowa, there are many contenders, and usually the top 3 move on to New Hampshire. I am happy with A.B. B.

Anyone but Bush.

If I vote Democrat this election year........which I've NEVER done in my voting life........SO FAR........I am leaning towards Kerry. :)

Someone posted a speech here made by Dean that really impressed me. However, a week ago Monday Kerry made a speech in IOWA that really knocked my socks off. As for Edwards everyone says he is from a humble background. I am the type that likes that sort of thing. It most likely will be one of those three but you never can be sure about me. The only presidential candidate I was ever 100 percent sure about was Hubert Humphrey. He was soundly beaten because he was blamed for LBJ's mistakes in Viet Nam. My apologies for bringing up ancient history.

I have noticed that in your posts you always remind us to support the troops. The fact the the largest newspaper in Iowa has endorced Edwards tell me a lot. Just as Clinton was the keynote speaker at the 1988 Democratic Convention, I see Edwards taking a strong future role in the Democratic Party. Maybe the next candidate, time will tell.

Today I heard on the news that President Carter will go to church with Dean, but he will support the Democratic Candidate.

Even Ghephart is looking good on TV.

The one I admire very much is Sharpton, why, he is out here just holding the Democratic party line. His biggest problem is just one, He is AL SHARPTON.

have you ever seen any legislator have "NURSES" listed as an important issue right on their website? One of them paid attention & finally figured out that there are 2.7 million...... and that we vote. Seriously, he is on target with the issues important to us and has sponsored or supported bills to advance nursings legislative agenda for a better work enviornment, pt safety, recruitment and retention.

He's been a strong supporter of working nurses for years and just received the endorsement of the Massachusetts Nurses Assoc.

All the other candidates websites talk about healthcare, medicare, medicaide, prescriptions, medical insurance and everything else, but none, except Kerry, said a word about nurses, nursing, nurses workplace environment and medical errors, or pt safety.

I also like John Kerry's humility. He was on Jay Leno and told a funny story. He was traveling to campaign. Many of the candidates travel with the known on camera reporters. After a local town meeting he left in a car with a few reporters, The car was flagged down with autograph seekers, so he smiled, open up the window, and the shrieking crowd all lined up screaming "Chris Matthew's." John Kerry sunk in his seat.

If I were in Iowa tonight, I would vote for John Kerry.

You are wrong. Howard Dean has addressed those very issues and has made many supportive statements about nurses and nursing along with proposing solutions:

I can't help it . . . . . ever since the Rolling Stone interview I can't stop calling him "John F'ing Kerry"

:chuckle

I saw him on Jay Leno . . . he arrived on a huge motorcycle dressed in black leather. I think he is just trying too too hard.

And Barb has Dean down in another thread . . . . he is the doc who is having a temper tantrum in the nurse's station, throwing charts. :D

The are still tearing the %^&$! out of each other . . . . I do not get the theory behind tearing each other down. It makes all people of your party look bad. If you could just run on the issues and what you would do about them instead of calling everyone names like schoolyard bullies.

Such a mess . . . .
