Nurses Activism

In my part time civilian job the nurses have no rights. One nurse was slapped across the face in her patients room by a dr. one was choked, and the other had a knife pulled on her. All by dr's.
The cases are still pending after 13 months. The dr's are still working at this hospital. The nurses can not come back to work until the cases are resolved.
I don't know about you but I am mad as hell. I want to do something, but what?
What about the law.
Nursing has not come a long way as I see it. Our legal system is also letting this go on, and all the work nurses have done to stick up for there rights is a joke. It's a joke in the eyes of dr's, and anywhere a nurse workes, and our legal system.

Nav,
Don't you think a reporter would just love to break this story. Doesn't sound as if the hospital will.

What 3rd world country did this happen in?
I'd like to see a Doc hit me, after i pounded the $hit out of him i'd make sure he was arrested, and that his license be reviewed by the state board.
Our legal system pretty much sucks in the US due to the fact that scumsucking liberals who are extremely soft on crime keep getting into office.

Those are criminal charges......They supercede any hospital policy and need to addressed with the local Prosecutor's Office for criminal infractions......Definitely time for the press to cover this one...however I'm finding the media seems to be controled by the big business interests..not yellow journalism, just GREEN..I hope this nurse is no longer at that hospital and has as attorney...

Well first of all, me and those doctors would have been going at it. I'm short but I'm mean and they would have thought twice about hitting any nurse again. Then I would have filed charges and no fast-talking hospital administrator would have talked me out of it.

IT IS BAD ENOUGH WHEN YOU HEAR OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN BUT IN THE WORK FORCE? I WOULD HAVE BEAT HIS ASS DOWN. I AM A PROFESSIONAL BUT WHEN YOU PUT YOUR HANDS ON ME THE GHETTO QUEEN COMES OUT. I HAVE READ IN NURSEWEEK THERE WAS A BIG ARTICLE ON DRS ABUSING NURSES. I AM FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE THAT HAPPEN TO ME. I DON'T EVEN LET MY HUSBAND HIT ME SO WHY DO THEY THINK OTHERWISE.
THESE HOSPITALS LIKE TO CLOSE THEIR EYES TO THAT KIND OF MESS. THROWING INSTRUMENTS CALLING OUT YOUR NAME IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. WHEN I ENCOUNTER A RUDE ASS DOCTOR I LET HIM/HER KNOW I AM NOT THE ONE YOU WANT TO SCREW WITH. I DON'T CARE IF I WERE TO GET FIRED BECAUSE WHEN IF I HAVE TO SHOVE A COFFEE POT UP SOMEONE'S ASS THAT IS WELL WORTH IT. :(

Raging bullies
A disturbing number of nurses face verbal abuse, mostly from physicians, and some hospitals are taking steps to improve relations

Excellent resources re this topic.

mopsi + kday have offered good advice.
Please have your nurse colleagues file up with a police report...still not to late. I wouldn't think of going back to a hospital that didn't discipline doctors immediately in this day and age.
If there are witnesses to these events that are willing to collaborate, I'd report the doctors to Califormina Board of Medicine....slow moving they are.

Those nurses need to find the best damn lawyer they can, and then proceed to take down the doctors, the hospital, and the admininstrators!! :( I would sue them for every stinking thing they owned, including their birth certificates (but I don't think brutes are issued a birth certificates)!!!! These doctors are out of control, period. No excuses, either!! I think they should be forced to publically apologize to the nurses, compensate them with monetary awards, and be sentenced to prison time!! Plus broadcasting this to the press would be good. Keep us posted on how this comes out!!
