  1. I work for a Union hospital, i would vote them out in a second. We have poor nisurance, average pay, poor staffing, grievences that do absolutley notehr (last manager i had, had over 125 grievencs in one year aganst her personally and she still has her job)
  2. Don't move to NY, any part. It is the worst state in the US to live in.
  3. LLD sounds like yor floor was staffed like our ICU, man I gotta get out of here. Poor staffing is the norm not the exception.

  5. I don't work on tele but have a very close friend who does. Nights has 10-12 patients each, usually 1 moniter tech and 1 aide. No pressor drips are allowed outside the icu in our hospital. Keep in mind we are the largest cardiac hospital in the area, yet the in no cath lab after noon saturday till mondya morning. We have the highest death rate in the country for post cardiac surgeries, we are about 5-10 years behind the rest of the country. Gee I wonder why soo many patients die. Nowhere in the hospital does accuity mean anything, not on the floor, not in the ICU's, nowhere. They just look at bodies.

  7. Absolutly has to e on a moniter, I wouldn't even give it, seen a pt. go asystole 5 minutes after getting it.
  8. Call me weird, everyone else does, but i like that skunk smell
  9. judging by some of the morons i work with you can be dumb as a brick and still be a nurse, completly brain dead if you want to be in management
  10. I thought you meant abusing the MD's. We beat them up pretty good, especially the interns. I abused one for about an hour the other day about a BS admission, still got the hit but i felt better about it
  11. Sterile gloves with the exceptiohn of stage I and II pressure ulcers. Don't need to culture? Big difference in treatment for a unifected wound vs. a vre or mrsa wound don't you think?
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong but if your in Torsades you have very poor cardiac out put, and if you were in it for 4 dyas, would you not be dead. Probbaly more like VT.
  13. 5 security guards, 10 of haldol, 2 of ativan and a 20 ga syringe. He wouldn't refuse that.
  14. M O M in the pm for a bm in the am. plus colace, ducolax if needed, than regular enema than if needed soap suds
  15. I seriousluy have to question the 50 units of blood. 16 pints and your on a complete change over, that would be about 24 units. None of your own blood would be a massuive reaction in the body, sounds like some sensationist journalism going on.
