Nurses General Nursing

I am a registered nurse and like the fact that nurses stood together, but the power of social media to crush or destroy somebody scares me. We need to try and adhere to the Golden Rule especially when using social media! So I posted the following on twitter hoping to advance the Golden Rule. The world now knows that nurses have limits on being belittled and disrespected. Now let us reinforce the public's faith that we are loving and nonjudgmental group!

#nursesunite rarely but #nursesforgive ALWAYS! @TheView @JoyVBehar

Clearly you define "humanity" differently than most. I don't think protest is inhumane.

I'm so sick of the "customer service" bs nurses are pushed into, placating rude disrespectful families and patients. Then the ignorance in the media about what nurses do disgusts me even more. I'm kinda fed up with the bending over backwards nurses are expected to do. I would never take anything out on a patient and I will do my job to the highest standards I am able but I don't also have to kiss *** at the same time. That's not in my job description and I think that is the sentiment many nurses expressed over this baloney. I don't think anyone was "crushed". Exposing someones ignorance is different than crushing someone.

WELL SAID!!! Like x400.

PS I don't see nurses standing together to protest people publically maligning one of own as a "kerfluffle" but as a coming together. No embarrassment here; but pride.

Nurses have long had mostly negative portrayals in the media. Most medical dramas have either no nurses or only have nurses that are there just to boink the residents and interns. Watch any "B" movie and the nurse is invariably the "sexy nurse" and how many Halloween costumes are the "sexy nurse?" With few exceptions male nurses in the media are portrayed as gay, or somehow criminal. Frankly media obsessed people like those women on the View have been exposed to so many negative portrayals of nursing it's no wonder they don't have a clue what we are really about. If those ignorant comments made by the women on The View result in enough nurses complaining to cause some changes in how nurses are portrayed in the media this can only be a good thing in my opinion.

So maybe we should be thanking them for giving us nurses a galvanizing incident to rally around.

Totally depends on the size.

For the win.

Maybe I missed the clarification, but please clarify/re clarify what the Golden Rule is.

Actually as a nurse, I have seen more than too many.

I've so many innies that I'm starting to think outies are abnormal.

I learned not too long ago how to turn an innie into an outie for using a urinal or getting a catheter. It felt like such a win that you would've thought I just won the lotto. I was going to start a catheter on one and one of our newer nurses was so eager to help with it because she wanted to figure it out, too. Being totally serious here, I do wonder why that happens as men get older and grow bellies. Surely there is a physiological reason.

memberes don't migrate. They have a firm attachment, so they get swallowed.

I was with someone who lost thirty pounds and "gained" some length.

My prudy face is flaming right now. :cautious:

MODERATOR NOTE:

We have had enough fun with the talk of the male genitalia. This is a place for nurses to come and have professional discussions about current events and how they affect each of us individually.

Further talk/posts that are off topic will be removed.
