  2. We look forward to Nurses Week, although, most of us have to admit that many of the gifts we receive, if any, are nothing to write home about. But occasionally, there is that gift that knocks us off our feet. Have you ever received a really fantastic gift for Nurses Week?

Hey, I got a dozen Roses today from my 25yo son for Mothers Day and Nurse Week.... I almost fainted too.
Prior boss gave me a Chocolate bar ... my branch celebration is set for 5/22 when I will be with Allnurses in Denver.

Nothing from my primary job.....after all it it is Teacher Appreciation Week

a plant from a former colleague...

and at my second job in LTC..... "there are other departments that don't have a special week so we don't do nurses week any more...."

My sister, who is a nurse executive and hasn't been near an actual patient since 1982 posted her BSN graduation photo (with her nurse's cap) on FaceBook along with a note to herself congratulating herself on Nurse's Week. While I realize that she still holds a valid license, somehow I think figuring out how to "do more with fewer nurses" in order to lay off nurses entitles her to congratulate herself on Nurse's week. I wonder what she did for those bedside nurses she's laid off?

By the way, she didn't congratulate ME on nurses's week because "You've been off work for months with your surgery and you JUST went back to work." (At the bedside since 1977).

How many people are on AllNurses? Over 500,000?

Pretty sad when none can post an extraordinary gift..

We had a breakfast that no one but nurse executives could attend because it was held from the start of shift till the beginning of our med pass (0700-0900). Also, ice cream but I was off that day. Our manager got us cute little gift baskets though. That was nice.

Awe Happy Nurses day to you all. Being a nurse means leaving a legacy in ways we may not even realize like the former patient who still talks about you in a great way, about how you changed their life. May each of you have a handful of patients like that.
