Do You Think You Could Pass NCLEX Today?

What the title says, do you think you could pass the NCLEX after having been out of school for 2+ years?

Specializes in Med-Surg.

Probably but by passing it means 70% right?   LOL.

I've kept up with continuing education and current practice.  But I'm not used to the current style of questioning.  But I think I could pass.

Specializes in Ob.

Very interesting q!

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.

Have an extra $150.00?   That's the cost of NCSBN practice NCLEX test!

Having attended multiple conferences almost yearly, 30 CEU yearly,  active participant@ allnurses x 20years, keeping up with new grads NCLEX issues,  after 40yrs think I could pass this exam.

Specializes in kids.

Having taken (and passed!)  the National School Nurse Certification Exam in 2020 (last big exam was my state boards in 1983)...I could, with a review course, as my specialty has been kids since 1994.

Specializes in NICU.

Since a vast majority of nursing school and NCLEX is about adults, I have forgotten 95% of what I learned in nursing school since I have been working in the land of the "little people".

Specializes in Patient Safety Advocate; HAI Prevention.

I am pretty old and retired, and I KNOW I couldn't pass the nursing boards that I took in 1970.  We tested for 2 solid days in each specialty.  We did not do NCLEX, which I have never understood.  So, my answer is no I couldn't pass today, but under the circumstances, who could?

Specializes in Geriatrics, Dialysis.

I think I could. But then I am an NCLEX panel member for the NCSBN so I do participate in the NCLEX test writing process which does give me a bit of an unfair advantage. If I can't pass the test I helped write there's something wrong with me, LOL.  If not for that, then no way no how do I think I would pass.  Though the NCLEX is starting something new, allowing partial credit for those dreaded SATA questions so maybe that would help?

Specializes in Hemodialysis, Operating Room Nurse, PACU.

Like.. just put down my sandwich and take the NCLEX right now?

Heck no. I'll fail miserably. ?

Specializes in CEN, Firefighter/Paramedic.

What was the thought process behind the next gen questions that are coming?  I'm an educator at heart, but that format perplexes me..
