The truth I am completely neutral with Obamas New Healthcare Bill. I have a large number of family members that are physicians, nurses, a few work for healthcare corporations and growing up my childhood friends who are still my current friends their families are involved in the medical field. My point is that I have never ever seen a hospital, physician, medical staff turn a person in need of help do to an visible injury or an internal pain that has been hurting for a few days. So, I really do not understand the point of President Obama's Healthcare Bill. If anyone would like to explain it to me I would appreciate it, because from my understanding, hospitals are not allowed to turn down a person because they do not have health insurance, I always thought that was against the law.
Unless this Bill is intended for Physicians that have their own private practice, then it makes a little sense why the President would want to pass it. If this is the case then President Obama truly does not understand what has been going on with Healthcare and he needs to start educating himself by going out there and gaining first hand experience.
I just think our healthcare system has a lot of faults, but also it does a lot of good and everybody needs to remember there will never be a perfect system, because perfection does not exist. I understand this bill will not take action for 4years, but the money is currently being collected. President Obama's thought behind Universal Healthcare is very people pleasing, but I feel it is going to cause unnecessary chaos among the citizens of the united states.
I am not saying I am against universal healthcare or for universal healthcare. Also, I am not saying our healthcare system is perfect the way it is, all I am trying to say is that I am confused about the situation.
I voted NO!!!
My non-profit hospital will be getting LESS $ from medicare, and on top of that, we will start being taxed an ADDITIONAL $160 MILLION per year. We are already not getting raises, but now I'm sure we will all take a pay cut very soon. I think once this starts, our level 1 trauma hospital will close and thousands of people will become unemployed and uncared for!
No. It was forced upon the American people. I know several doctors in my area who are going to go ahead and take an early retirement because they know Medicaid rarely pays now. What will happen when the Government takes over healthcare? Anything the government gets it's hands on doesn't work.

Do you work at MY hospital? I have the same concerns.

It is my understanding that the reason he created the healthcare bill was to cut down on medical costs over a ten year period, working with physicians, hospital administrators, and others. I personally believe if there were price caps on the health insurance companies, limiting the fees that they charge their clients, our healthcare system would improve. Some people just cannot afford to pay the exorbitant prices they charge, plus the healthcare insurance industry is the organization that makes the rules for the amount of time Physicans are allowed to spend with their patients, etc.The truth I am completely neutral with Obamas New Healthcare Bill. Belleview Hospital in NYC has already closed down or is going to close down soon due to the exorbitant expenses it faces, and the little redimbursment fees provided by Medicare, etc. That hospital is a well known hospital, and is a very large one. I know, my husband was a patient in there at one time. The seniors' Social Security funds have also been frozen for 3 years, and there are also I forget the amount in cuts to the Medicare bill, but it is over one billion dollars. That definitely will cut into the senior care services.Do you work at MY hospital? I have the same concerns.steph
By the way, I voted NO also.
Don't know, I live in OHIO. You?
No . . .California . . . :)
We are really struggling . . .. .and we are the biggest employer in this community. It will only get worse . . .
Lots of people will lose jobs, LTC patients will have to go at least 70 miles away to find beds, there will be no local ER and people will have to wait for a 'copter ride . . . . no hospice . . no respiratory service at home . . .
There has already been a LTC close that was associated with a non-profit hospital in another local mountain community . . . right after the Health Control Bill passed, because they were already struggling and knew they wouldn't be able to make it with the new laws being passed.

In all honesty... I am shocked anyone in the medical field would vote yes. I've never met a seasoned Nurse who doesnt agree that Nursing has become too political. When the government sticks it's nose in Healthcare- it will become even more about politics and even less about patient care. Doctors will lose more flexibility because more rules will be put in place.
Is anyone happy with the public school system? The Department of Transportation? Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Social Security?
Besides, I'm not sure how they can call it "free" when our tax dollars will be paying for it.

You have the right idea that something has to be done, but I don't think price caps anywhere will do it. This will result in services being dropped or turned down as too expensive. Medical care has to be paid for, and the ball always stops with us.
Tort reform is the first thing that should be done. Not only will it cut out those ridiculous claims, Doctors would no longer need to practice defencive medicine.
And lastly, where it comes to medicaid and medicare, get fraud under control. From the figures I heard it makes up approx 20 - 25% of the total costs. Or approx 50 billion a year. Can you imagine what that would be under Obama Care. There is nearly none in the private industry (open to correction, but that last on is my info).
There are many things that can be done, but destroying the present system should not be one of them IMHO.

Luckily I have always had insurance and when I was not insured during my college years I recieved care at a pay as you can hospital clinic and recieved the best care. My experience here as in puerto rico has always been that I ahve never been turned away. Then I agree something needed to be done but this didnt have bipartisan support and that is not what america is about.
