I have been at my present job for 14 years. I think I have recieved small tokens of appreciation maybe two times. I am seeing a trend of younger teachers who are overworked, and bogged down in their own work to ever think about thanking the school nurse. It's pretty much a job where you have to just go in and do your best each day for your students and not worry about the fact that nobody notices the job you do. I know I make a difference to the kids..... I have many teachers who are rude, demanding and pushy. It is so totally un-necessary. Let's all hang on because the summer is coming. By the way....I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU FOR THE JOBS YOU DO EACH DAY !!! :)

I felt really appreciated this year! I received flowers and a card signed by all the administrators and secretaries. My name was put on the reader board outside school. I got alot of hand made cards from the Sp. Ed. kids. And the district Nursing Supervisor and Consulting Nurses gave all the school nurses a reception after school. Small bits of appreciation after a really long difficult year!
My principal gives me a beautiful bouquet of flowers every year, the secretaries also give me something really nice. They have a cake, fruit, coffee, etc. with all of the staff in the offices (guidance, CST, secretaries, principal, VP, dean of students). The teachers have no idea though.

The last two years I have not been "appreciated." It kinda grinds my tail, because I give 110%. Staff & admin largely has no idea what we do, so what's to appreciate? So my husband sends me flowers to school.:) I open the card in the office and read it aloud. Sorta shames them into noticing that they have a school nurse.
This year I'm in a wonderful elementary school where the office staff, teachers, and admins appreciated me every single day! I don't really care if I get a special day this year, because just about every day is special in this school. But don't tell my hubby that--he'll still send me flowers.

Does your facility/school remember you on School Nurses Day ?
If so...what do they do in honor of the occasion?
