  1. Have you tried registering with another nursing council, like qld?? I dont know if they have the same requirements or assesments... if they have a different or cheaper way then u could get you registration through them and transfer it to NSW
  2. I dont know if this will be a fix.... I think they will do only the minimal amount. That is, hold the inquiry and we wait the usual 2 years for a result and everyone has forgotten about the reason for the inquiry....... maybe I am just being cynical
  3. I think the best bit of advice I was given when I was a grad was this 'do not worry about making mistakes, it happens, no-one is perfect, you learn from these and grow as a person and a nurse that is what learning is about. But if you make a mistake and you hide it, and that mistake is discovered you will get your orifice kicked from here to kingdom come and back again.'
  4. Hey all, I thought I would just add the Queensland point of view...... We are told not to swab the site for an insulin injection, but we have to swab for cannulation and veni-puncture.... someone earlier said that 'alcohol interferes with insulin' (I hope I quoted that right) I would be very interested in this, as we swab the insulin vials before we draw up the insulin
  5. I can barely be an RN and you want to see me as a CN?? You are a real worry
  6. Hey, our conditions seem very good compared to yours......For 28 beds we have 5 nurses for morning and afternoon shift, and 3 at night. If we get more admissions then we get an extra nurse.
  7. Hey all I need some clarification.... Can someone please tell me what the difference is between an lpn, lvn, rn..... and where lpn and lvn come into play.... I work in Oz and am confused by these designations for nurses.
  8. What is a 'nurse's day'? and when is it :rotfl:
  9. Hello all, I have decided to take the plunge and do my Masters. Is there anyone else out there studying there masters in ADV NUR Prac at James Cook Uni out there so as we can network?? Who else is out there studying??
  10. Hiya monster This is just my opinion, but when I first started working in the HDU (6 weekas ago) the thing I found I needed the most was to be able to read an ECG, whats normal and whats not normal, and how to interrupt this, as well as the effects drugs will have on the heart and blood pressure and when to withhold them. Hope this gives some help Gray
  11. Hey bulletproof, Have you had a look at royal college of nursing (http://www.rcna.org.au). They have a program called 3LP. I find it interesting and helpful
