Nurse recruiter blew me off. Is this normal?

After numerous applications, a nurse recruiter contacted me to set up a phone interview. We set it up for a particular day/time/phone number. The day before I researched the company.... then on the day of the interview, she did not call! I sent a polite email saying I am at a certain number and to call at her convenience (after the recruiter missed our interview time) and heard nothing.... So I guess they are no longer interested in me. But is this normal.... are recruiters skipping out on scheduled interviews these days? Just wondering.... Thanks!

And that has happened to me; I had a recruiter email me, tried to call them, even became a connection on LinkedIN to get them to call; went through the phone interview, kept calling the recruiter, then got the rejection notice.

In a funny twist, the same recruiter reached out to me AGAIN, I emailed them back AGAIN, no response.

Accepted another position and undergoing the pre employment process; don't even care if that recruiter calls back.

There is nothing to be gained by making an issue of this. A social gaff was committed. Do you chase down everyone who fails to hold the elevator, steals your parking spot, has too many items in the checkout lane? It was a disappointment and it was wrong. I would strongly recommend you move on. The medical community even in big cities is much smaller than one would think.

There should be an ethical way in handling company interviews. Ex. Taking time to at least text back if you didnt get the job saying" thank you for you time and effort but unfortunately...etc" you know things like that. This will make you to move on and search anew...

Surprising that they bothered to contact you. It was so bad for me one time, I was speaking to a person at her desk. Not only did she refuse to respond, she didn't bother to look up at me. I considered refusing to move, but decided I didn't want to give her reason to call security on me.

I swear i had same experience but not for employment. What i did i just raise my voice to make sure that person heard me clearly....oh yeah i remember now it was when my uncle got sick and i was so stress keep calling the nurses for hours when i went to the station the nurse was busy and totally ignored me. And i kinda calculated everything if i was wrong but NO i asked for their assistance for 2 hours already they keep saying they will come in a minute but none of them showed up so out of my fury i went to the station calmly told them that i need an assistance to move my uncle in the bed but with kind of a face "they dont wanna mess with".

Yes standing up for yourself is not risk free. Emiliano Zapata said "I rather die on feet than live upon my knees". Yes there are some battles that should not be fought. For me personally, It's worth the cost to maintain my self respect. Again that's me. I will not look down on those who feel different. Everyone has to decide for themselves.

Everyone has the right to deal with it their way. I am one that never burns a bride...you never know when you need to take that route again. You also never know when you are going to meet that person again...fast forward you are going to interview for that perfect position. You walk in the door and you just KNOW you are a shoe in.....until you arrive at the interview and realze it's that faceless HR recruiter you told to take a long walk to...bye bye dream job.

OP that person was very rude and unprofessional...be thankful you don't have to make the decision to work at that facility if that is how they represent themselves.

My experience with various recruiters are that, in general, they are flighty... I get 5 calls a day from them , but I stay away...

edit to add: I'm speaking of agency and travel agencies, not Hospital or facility recruiters

I always say experiences like this are dodged bullets. Who wants to work for an organization like this? But no point unnecessarily rattling cages either. Just move on and find a good job. Good luck.
