are there many nurse/doctor relationships? ;) like you know, on er, dr. carter & nurse abby nd hathaway & george clooney, and like that hott covac?? i sometimes joke w/my mother that i just may find a doctor as my own b/c she doesnt exactly agree w/my decision of becoming a nurse. :( or....grrr....do some doctors think that they're this

"big shot"

jus curious...

I don't see a lot of that in my hospital. A lot of attitudes and behavior in the work place has changed due to sexual harrassment cases. If anything, I see more professionalism between the medical staff and that kind of behavior is where it should be - on TV.

Ya know real life is so different than TV...especially in nursing and medicine. Our relationships rarely extend beyond strictly professional boundaries and I feel this is for the BEST. And we do work as COLLEAGUES in the vast majority of cases; that is, the doctors listen to us, respect what we are telling them, and come in when we tell them we need them to. We are their EYES AND EARS IN THE HOSPITAL, YOU BEST BELIEVE THAT!

Further, I cannot think of one doctor I want to see when I am not at work...not ONE--- and I am happily MARRIED. I sure did NOT get into nursing to marry any doctor or even become close friends, an I am even more against it for myself since becoming an RN. Familiar relationships at work often breed contempt between coworkers, so I think it's for the best to stay professional. Welcome to the boards, by the way Lina!

Well said, Debbie.

Its called "white coat syndrom" and easily recognisable by the way the nurse follows the doctors around and flirts while the rest of the nurseing crew are trying to beat the doctors down and shouting for them to learn to prescribe.....

I admit to having a very slight case....

I used to see this alot at the teaching hospital I worked at years ago. Mostly nurses and interns/medical students. Some of those girls just went to nursing school to get their MRS degree...

:chuckle at wv_nurse!

I work with a Dr/nurse team. They've only been married since December but the strain is already beginning to show. She's been in a foul mood for a week now and we're all too scared to ask if we can help or offer a shoulder in case we hear something we don't wanna know about the doc. There's no luvvy duvvy stuff on the ward though, and they're capable of passing each other in the corridor without so much as a hello when it's busy (before they got married, we were having nightmares about finding them in the linen room in a clinch!). They're very professional. :roll

Sorry to burst your bubble NiurseLina...but most docs I come in contact with are kinda icky. No sexual aura at all....most a--holes don't.

The only relationship that I know of is between a PA and an RN. They have been married about 7 years....not sure how they first met. Second marriages for both of them and it seems to be working out well....

Do know of one doctor in our area that divorced his first wife to marry his office nurse he was messing around with.... Rumor is that this wife has a say in the nurses he hires for his office nowadays...wonder why? :chuckle

I would not want to be married to a doctor. Several of the family practice docs at our hospital seem to have a good handle on balancing their professional lives with their personal lives. Very family oriented people....but still wouldn't want to be married to them....;)

Really!

Well said. The vast majority of docs are total creeps.

IMHO, nurses who are enamored of them are fools, and make the rest of us look unprofessional.
