Greetings!
After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
EFC: 544
GPA: 3.9
Community service hours: 45
Location: GA
ASN is first tier as long as it's full time. 40k is a lot for a ASN. It is an RN, ASN program right? If it is LPN it is not first tier.
Yes it is a 16 months ASN RN program I start August 29th. Its more expensive because its a private university. :) that is just where I was accepted first.
Hey guys! I also received my acceptance for the nurse corps scholarship on july 26 and i know im a bit late to the forum. I turned in all my documents and basically am in the same boat as all the others who are still in final review. My concern is that my school wants the bill for the upcoming semester to be paid by the 17 of this month which means i will have to take out loans or they will drop my classes. Do any of you guys know the time it usually took past scholars to receive a confirmation of the award from the time they became finalist? I also called them with my concern, in which they said they will reimburse my loan but only for the first semester. This is so nervewrecking and confusing i wanted to hear something by the end of this week if not ill have to accept the loans something which im scared to do
Did you provide them your email notification? I gave my school that and pages 14-16 of the guidance pdf and they accepted that.

Does anyone know if they credit check everyone in mid-July who might possibly get an award, or if they continue to do credit checks before each round of award emails?
No credit check for me yet either I'm planning for the worst and getting my loan sorted out now. I'm not thinking I'm going to get it anymore.. I start in a couple weeks so I'm running out of time to wait on it.

My school said if I took out loans and then later got scholarships, they would just refund the money to the loan entity, no penalty to me.
