After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
No, unfortunately my school said they need a letter with the exact amount (numbers) saying how much the scholarship is covering . This is so stressing.
A Tcrat, There is no way for you to know that. The exact numbers is based off of the invoice your school submits. Print out pages 14-15 of the guidance pdf and bring it to your financial aid dept. If you get push back ask to speak to their boss. They should be proud of you for getting this, not giving you a hard time. This is a honorable award. Don't let the push you around!

Does anyone know if they credit check everyone in mid-July who might possibly get an award, or if they continue to do credit checks before each round of award emails?
I don't know for sure, but I don't think they do a second round of credit checks.
Looking at threads for previous years everyone seems to have gotten the credit check at the same time. Also, in last years thread on September 17th someone received the award (I'm assuming one of the last awarded). That person said they had gotten their credit checked with everyone else in July.
Since I didn't get my credit checked I'm assuming that I'm not in the running anymore. That doesn't mean I've stopped checking my email!:)

i received a credit check on 7/15 from Credco .. application still says "under review", no award notification yet..
