Greetings!
After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
EFC: 544
GPA: 3.9
Community service hours: 45
Location: GA
Hey EBordoley, I am not sure if it disqualify you but it may slow down the processing of your application. My advice would be to call HRSA tomorrow to verify this info. Btw there is a thread for the 2017-2018 application season. Here is the link if you would like to follow: https://allnurses.com/online-nursing-schools/nurse-corps-scholarship-1093243.html Good Luck!
Hi nurse Emily I saw your comments on other posts as well and was wondering if I could ask you a question. I feel as if you would know it more than the answers I saw so far. Do you know how long after an application goes into final review, do we hear back from HRSA for a confirmation of receiving it or being denied the award. I would really appreciate your help, thank you so much!

I don't know of anyone who was denied after receiving a finalist notification and submitting there documention on time. The only reason I believe someone would be is because their situation changed from what it was when they applied, like they went from full time to part time. Last year it took about a month from when I was notified to when my contract was signed by a HRSA representative. It was at that point that I as change to a participant and recieves more information. I hope that helps!
Happy to help!the private messaging on this site is a disaster but --- I just saw your past posts and that you are at hopkins! Me too! Patho TA right here. You should know how to reach me!
