After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)

I am in the same boat as you, with tuition due on the 17th (I wonder if we're in the same program....are we in the same program? lol) I was going to accept the federal loans & wait on the reimbursement but I haven't spoken to them about this yet so i'll go on Monday & see what they say. I hope I get an extension as well.

The deadline for paperwork submission for the last wave of acceptance is tomorrow, 8/14. I really hope everyone else waiting hears something at least by Monday or during next week.
Lol is your nursing program in NY? And if you do accept your loans are you going to accept both fall and spring semester or just fall? Hopefully they will get back to us by monday:/

Lol, ok, we're in different programs then. Mine is in NJ very close to nyc. I would just accept the the loans for fall. & yes, I hope we hear back by Monday.

There is a facebook group called 2016 - 2017 HRSA Nurse Corps Recipients where we have been going over alot of information. Also you should read the guidance pdf. It answers alot of questions about time lines and how the scholarship works.
You folks have been providing super helpful information so thank you! Ok, so I've accepted I'm not getting a Nurse Corps scholarship because I wasn't credit checked by Credco on July 15th....but can you all tell me if the National Health Service Corps process is any different? That is, are they still credit checking applicants before each wave of offers or did they also have one date that they credit checked anyone who might get it? And what do their credit checks show up as? Thanks you all, and congrats to those who got it, and sympathies to those in my boat.
