After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
Ok so here is my input. I am not sure if I am correct but just a thought! From what I have read on all other threads all the way back to 2012 is that notifications did not come for anyone on the BSN level until the first/second week of August. Even though credit checks were done way in advance of that date. I also saw that some credit checks were not done until 3-4 days prior to some receiving the award letter and have seen a few that got the award with NO credit check at all!! I don't think there is any way to know how this really works!! That's what is driving us all crazy is not knowing!!. haha. This seems to be the norm honestly. I am hoping that whomever needs this scholarship to continue their education gets it!! Good luck everyone but I am not holding my breath. I am trying not to stress about this and wait until the 2nd week of August to hear something.
