I received my award email this morning at 8am. I screamed, then I cried. Words can not express how thankful I feel. Good luck to those still waiting, there is still time!!

I had a credit check 7/15 too and haven't received an award email yet.

Logically I know it's still early. Emotionally I feel so deflated and sad because I didn't get an email yesterday. Congrats to everyone that has been awarded so far!!

I google NC Scholarship computer and found a PDF invoicing guide for schools. Computer fees are covered, but not sure what that means exactly. It doesn't list computer/laptop under ineligible expenses.

I hope this is covered by other reasonable expenses. I will ask my friend that is a NC scholar and see if she has any insight.

From looking at last year's thread, there are several people that never received a credit check. I think that interest in this post probably skyrocketed amongst those of that actually got a credit check so that's probably why it seems like most of us have had checks.i know that I didnt even look for a thread until I realized, by accident, that my credit had been checked. Given the expense, it just seems unrealistic that everyone gets credit checks. My assumption is that they have a script and probably just tell callers that because they are supposed to.

I think it's fairly safe to say that none of us really know. It would only be speculation. Good luck!

Hey, DukeNP here again. For some reason I can't get in to that account with my password and I can't get it to reset. So I'm using an older account. Yes, it's clear from the guidelines that first tier is typically the only ones funded. The question that is harder to answer is how many applicants qualify for the first tier for consideration. Since the guidelines are pretty clear that generally only applicants in the the first tier get funded, I wonder if the majority of applicants are full-time BSN and full-time NP students. I know that overall around 10% of applicants typically receive the scholarship, so that makes me wonder what % of the total applicants are considered first tier. I am going to continue to remain optimistic that the early credit check is a good sign. I want to be positive without getting my hopes up too much though, you know? I'm already in school though and up to my eyeballs in work, so I'm just going to try to stay focused on finishing up summer term and hope that this is my reward at the end of a grueling semester.

I have been considering returning to school to become a CNM/WHNP. I've reached out to several local CNMs on LinkedIn, but only one responded (which on it's own is disheartening). The one that responded said that without several years of L & D experience I shouldn't even consider school and that in school I'd have no time to learn the basics. I've read so many places that you don't need L & D experience and I know that Frontier doesn't require that for admission. I had plans to become a Doula while I work on admissions packet, etc. Would that experience be enough to help me? I want some birth experience, but trying to get on at a L & D unit seems too difficult. I'd like more input and opinions on this. I am in a good paying, flexible job now and trying to get on in a L & D unit would be difficult. Am I kidding myself that I could become a CNM without L & D experience?

Just curious as I'm trying to decide between CNM and FNP -- did you all have a lot of L&D experience? I worked in an OB/GYN office but that was years ago now. Just not sure if I'd make the cut. Congrats to all accepted!

Does anyone know if there are textbooks at Frontier? I don't see any cost related to textbooks on the website.
