Greetings!
After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
EFC: 544
GPA: 3.9
Community service hours: 45
Location: GA
Hello all,
I'm joining in super late, but now that my credit was checked on 7/15 I'm feeling more hopeful. My EFC had me pretty defeated at ever having a chance, but as an NYU nursing student my tuition is insanely expensive with no financial support. So here are my stats:
EFC: 2200
GPA: 4.0
Experience: 3 years volunteering as a food distributor for the underserved communities
1 year as an intern at a local healthcare organization that only provides services to the underserved
3 months as a hospital volunteer
I'm a traditional BSN student in my 5th semester (1st nursing sequence) and my tuition is $57,000/year
Good luck to everyone!
is there a history of maintenance and then followed by award emails? I'm just still assuming I didn't get it until that status changes on my application so I don't get crushed! haha. I think last year it was about a week or so until anyone found out. so the timing would add up!
I am not sure about the maintenance part. However, I know that people's status doesn't change to "potential finalist" until they receive an email. Then they have a time limit to return the rest of the documents before they are updated to finalist/scholar. But they do credit checks on those whose applications scores qualified them as a finalist. If they don't have outstanding Federal debt/liens usually they get an email. So a credit check is a very good sign.
Hi everyone!
Very excited to see on my credit report (from annunalcreditreport.com) an inquiry from CREDCO from 7/15! I will be a first semester ABSN student this fall, EFC:0, GPA: 3.84, experience: CNA, research and publications on underserved populations, domestic and international volunteer experience, and much more!..
I was wondering if anyone has read in any of the past threads of someone having their credit checked and NOT receiving an award e-mail? I tried to look but have not come across anything.. I just wanted to see what my chances are at this point, it's hard to tell!
If anyone knows of this, thanks in advance!
