After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
I am hoping that the credit inquiries start appearing on the week of the 18th. I just figured that since the deadline was earlier this year than it was last year, that it may be the case. Wishful thinking I guess lol
Had two credit checks - one on 6/11 and one on 6/28 - Credco and US Dept of Education. EFC: 0 4.0, first tier, NP applicant. Seems like they weight the essays and CV pretty heavily from the reviewer guide someone shared a bit ago. Im hopeful. Best of luck to everyone.
I'm really glad I finally checked allnurses because I was wondering if there was anyone that applied for the NC and the NHSC scholarships. I am pursuing a graduate/doctoral degree = not cheap and I'm hoping to receive some sort of scholarship as I already borrowed for my undergrad.
Here are my stats:
2 years of inpatient psych RN experience
was accepted to a full time 3 year Psych NP BSN-DNP program for the fall of 2016.
Nursing GPA = 4.0/3.6 for overall undergrad
EFC = 1300
I also checked my credit score and have no inquiries from any companies yet.
I'm not sure if I'll get anything really because I think I fall under Tier 2 since I'm pursuing a DNP. í ½í¸•
Does anybody know if any DNP students received a scholarship last year?
- I tried checking past forums but I didn't see any mention of DNP recipients.
Also right now I am working a night shift and have a lot of down time right now so excuse this comment for being posted so late/early í ½í¸´
Dept of Education inquiries are for student loans. I applied for both and have been credit checked 6/14 for NHSC but nothing for NC yet. Inquiries are "credco" or "dept of health" for the scholarships.
Hey, not sure how true it is that the dept of education check is for loans only. I've compared my inquiries with past scholars and they've all had dept of education and then the credco.
hopefully we will see something by the end of July! super anxious.
Sorry I'm late but I am from Oklahoma. I applied to Oklahoma City University which is a private school as I will be going for the BSN program. My EFC is 1,310. GPA : 3.2. I have a bachelor's in Healthcare Administration, I am currently working as a mental health tech, and I do have volunteer service. My internship was with the Health department. I have been praying that I get this scholarship but I am not going to stress about it because that means that someone needed the scholarship more than me. Like others I am also low on my funds. I start the BSN program August 22nd.
