Greetings!
After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
EFC: 544
GPA: 3.9
Community service hours: 45
Location: GA
Has anyone heard anything? I am super worried. I NEED this money to pay for school! I too only put my name and application Id on my essays. At least I wasn't the only one :-( I hope that doesn't hurt my chances. This will be my first bachelors degree I was accepted into UNM's CON which I heard was pretty hard to get into. My EFC is 0 and my Program GPA is a 3.65. I don't necessarily have any volunteer experience with undeserved communities. I have worked for over 17 years as a veterinary technician (and we all know not everyone is financially secure enough to deal with financial stuff when it comes to their pets, especially in unplanned emergent situations). Maybe they will take that into consideration? I am kinda freaking out about the whole career change and how I will pay for it. I have maxed out student loans for Undergrad ( due to the RVT license and an associates in integrated studies.) I had to change majors due to wait lists in the rad tech program. People were waiting 5 years to be accepted!!!!
How do we check though if we have been checked?
Sign up for creditkarma.com or free annualcreditreport.com...they are both free & it will show u your credit as well as any hard inquiries.I personally use creditkarma.com & I find their mobile app to be pretty convenient...with notifications as well.
Scoring Criteria for this year. Looks like they have until June 28th 2016 to finish review #1 and then till July 5th 2016 for review #2.
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Inquiry was the Department of Health. I dont recall the date sometime but it was showing last week? I have others on there as well for my Graduate Loans but they show differently.
Oh ok I f you read further up the inquiries from last years winners where from something else. So I'm I mean I hope that's it for you that would be great! Wish mine would update on credit karma

Thanks for that information! Do you think that means we will start being notified after the 28th or not until after July 5th?
