2020 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hey people! I've been interested in the HRSA Nurse Corps Loan repayment program for several years, just never took the time to apply. I am full-time nurse faculty in an BSN program. For those who have applied before:

1. When does the cycle usually open? ( I have signed up for updates)

2. How do you calculate your DTI? (This is all new to me?)

Thanks for your responses. Hopefully we can kick some student loan debt in the butt!! I'm excited and haven't even applied yet! Blessings to you all!

FNP. Was awarded in 2018. Applied for continuation. Praying.

Specializes in NICU.

Anyone else who applied get an email re: Employment Verification??

Also, does anyone know if it affects our application if we defer our federal loans right now? Since they're not accruing interest, it would be helpful to defer until the fall!

I have not received any communication whatsoever. Application status remains "under review." According to their website, deferring federal loans will not have any impact on your application nor will having reduced work hours or being furloughed.

-best of luck to everyone.

Yes, I've noticed that too. Honestly with everything going on with Covid-19, I didn't expect it would be much different. That status probably won't change for a while. I'm just praying to be included in the number!

Stay safe everyone!

I have not gotten an email about employment verification. Can you provide some of the language of the email? Maybe someone else here can provide insight.

Anybody?

Praying you get it!

The email started as follows: "This is a notification to inform you that an Employment Verification has been initiated on your behalf for (my institution). The following site points of contact(s) (POC) will receive a message to log into the BHW Program Portal for Site Administrators to verify your employment: "

I emailed them and they responded that I should contact the POC's to complete the EV.

Can someone send the link to where it says that we can defer our federal loans without impact on our application? Thanks

Finally got a response about the EV....apparently the email was sent in error. SMH

Anyone with any updates? Just wondering if it’s taking this long because of Covid or because I did not make the cut:(

It normally takes this long. Most notifications start in July.

I agree with cashmCNMFP....this is my first time applying but I'm not worried about it because it seems to have taken this long by others experience. I wouldn't be surprised if it took longer. Don't count yourself out too soon

Hi everyone,

I was starting to worry too. But I just received notification from my credit monitoring app that Credco requested an inquiry today. In previous years, this is the company used to perform the credit checks for this program. Fingers-crossed that we are all accepted!

Good luck!!

Credco check today also. Prayers! Nurse Corp LRP-1st yr applying.

Who do you all use for credit monitoring? I received email today from credit karma that a mortgage lender had requested a credit report. My husband and I haven’t applied for anything so just wondering if this could be credco?? ?
