NSU EntryBSN Program Fall 2010

Published

Hey I was wondering who has applied to the Nursing Program @ Nova starting fall 2010?

I would like to know of any updates any one has heard on the process, interviews, etc.

thanks!! best of luck!!:p

Hey all!!

I have been reading all of your news and updates since i started this thread, and like all you of, waiting patiently.

Today i finally received and e-mail on my acceptance! :). However, Im still clueless about how much longer it'll take to get all the information and paperwork straight, also I'd like to know if I have at shot at the Baptist Scholars program. Any one else heard of anything?

Good luck!:redpinkhe

omg..congrats on your acceptance! so very fortunate for you. i know that Denver said that ultimately the deadline for the Baptist scholarship goes hand in hand with the NSU nursing program. Essentially you will most probably get a package in the mail with info on how to apply for the scholarship and with info on what your next steps will be in reference to your acceptance. I'm sure a wave of students were accepted over the weekend..I've been patiently waiting for my notice..unfortunately though I'm going through a dilemma with my transcripts..I attended both FIU and Broward College and completed the first anatomy course at fiu and the second one at Broward College. Currently though on my BC transcripts its not counting the anatomy I took at FIU as a valid one...its coming up as a repeat..I'm devastated. I've worked so hard in my academic career for some mix up like this to be occurring. I went to my counselor at Broward college and she told me it seems to be a common problem for transfer students..I spoke to Denver about it and he just told me to get it resolved asap...in the mean time he put a note on my application so that whoever reviews it will see that my transcripts need to be evaluated seperately...I'm uber nervous..so stressed out about the entire situation...:(

Linda thanks for the info. Im still letting it sink in and waiting on the official acceptance letter. Im just worried that i wont get the Baptist scholarship...:icon_roll. Sorry to hear about the big mix up with your transcripts!!! it has been a long and dreading process with NSU. Ive heard horror studies. But stay patient and on top of things, call as many times as you need to, until you get it resolved. Honestly, Im still in shock on my acceptance because I had a repeat on a class back in 2005. But have maintained a great GPA since, and specially after taking courses at FIU for another program.

So i think they are basing admission on your whole application packet (Essay, GPA, transcripts, letter of recommedations)

Stay positive and best of luck to you!!!

Congratulations Marcy0004!!:yeah: Super excited for you! hopefully more of us will be joining you soon! :)

Kathy525,

Its true that you do have to give them a couple of days because it took them almost a week to update mine at one point. Just keep calling and calling until you see it fixed, and voice to them that you are getting very upset and worried, i said the last time and they passed me through another counselor and i received a call the next morning... So just hang in there.

UPDATE: i went to NSU and saw Denver people!!! He does exist lol.. =0) He is very very nice and i saw his desk and i am not kidding when i tell you the man has STACKS of transcripts and letters, etc. However, he is the man to go to. I finally delivered my FIU transcripts along with the Dade one as well he said that he has called several students and they have yet to send information so NSU has extended their deadline for any pending classes or missing information unitl JUNE 1. Also whomever requested a transcript from Dade before May 3 then you have to resubmit another transcript because Dade did not update their records until that week. So if your VIP page still stated classes in progress then MDC sent the old one not the new ones with those classes completed. I luckily got Denver on the phone yesterday and had MDC comp me another one. So recheck to see if they have your updated grades because even though they post them online it doesnt mean their records are up to date yet.

Also, Denver advised me that the counselors are there to scan through your paperwork, upload the information and ensure that we meet the requirement before the nursing committee reviews them.. Once you have everything its out of their hands and up to the committee to decide, so he doesnt know what our status would be once he is done uploading our info. He is just there to make sure we are not missing any information before sending it up to THE BIG DOGS.. and that can take several weeks. He looked at my transcript and said that my repeats in another subject that NSU doesnt even require and one F i received in an elective if going to hurt me. THEY LOOK AT EVERYTHING he stated. I was bummed but he did tell me they do also look at the GPA so if you are good then they can look pass it.. if you are on the fence then they look at your recommendation letters and essay to see where u land, thats where those come in... but its solely based on GPA..The whole transcript they look at. I hope they can bypass mine all of that happened back in 2003 and 2004 when i didnt even know college worked lol i thought by dropping i was ok.

I know this message is long but i just wanted to give all of you some new information. I hope this helped anyone. Especially with the transcript thing. I wouldve never known. Also, Denver told me that this has been the biggest overflow in a long time of apps and they are trying to go through everyone by the end of June. Thats their goal. So all we have to do is hang in there... just ensure all of your info is in and status wise the counselors dont even know he even said they some give out dates just to get the students off their back.. so honestly we need to just wait... hope all of you will get good news... i hope so for myself especially with my repeats... YIKES... i hope they only look at my gpa lol... Have a great weekend everyone and patience is a virtue! Hope i helped.

Hey jerziana,

I hope you are feeling better. I know you were really stressed out before. I am glad you spoke to Denver and found some answers and peace- he really is nice and helpful. I wanted to wish you and I luck with our acceptance to Nova. Be being future nurse's :nurse:...

Congrats Marcy!!!! You are one of the lucky few :).

If you do not mind me asking what was your GPA? We are all still anxiously waiting for our reponses. I am currently also a Nova stalker calling to verify that everything is in. They are currently just waiting for a decision for my application. I have all my hopes set on Nova since I do not have a GREAT GPA (3.4).

Well again I wish you the BEST of luck!

Im sure you all be receiving good news very soon! They will start to fly in.

I submitted my application Jan. 17, (yes, i cant believe how long it took) and my GPA was a 3.6.

Best wishes to you!

Thanks giggles for looking out, i am a little better, just stalked NSU again lol, they are holding my transcript because i enrolled for a summer course just in case and they said i am pending classes so i have to drop the class to show them proof that i am actually done with my courses... so ridiculous. Its a college algebra class its not even part of their requirement, but i am waiting on Denver to call me back. But i am praying for us all to get in and start our career path already!

Marcy Congrats!!!! How great!!!! You still have a shot at baptist they are still interviewing so it should come along with your packet. AWESOME!!!

As for us pending students lol i guess the waiting game is still going... lets just hang in there and see what happens. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us...

little by little a few us our getting notice on what the deal is...I really need some advice from my peers..I know you guys as pre nursing students will some what understand or offer the best advice possible...currently I'm stuck in a messy situation...as my post said earlier on my official transcripts ..since Broward college didn't properly transfer my first anatomy course from FIU it looks like I only took one anatomy and phys. class...meaning unless Broward college re evaluates my transcripts and fixes the error ..then I may have to re take anatomy and phys. over again at BC just so its on paper...and this will ultimately ruin my chances of getting accepted into any nursing programs for the FALL. I'm devastated...I feel like I've worked so hard over my college career...inclusively I feel like I've been in school FOREVER..and right when I think that I'm done with all my pre reqs..this problem presents itself..if indeed i don't get accepted ..do you guys think I should just re apply for the BSN program for Spring and to other RN programs as well? I mean I've come this far already..and I guess i'm just so anxious to start already that I'll do anything to get into a program..another option I was looking at was to apply for an LPN program..but most programs are full and won't start til January...so I'm thinking its not even worth it...I'm severely frustrated but theres pretty much nothing else I can do...hopefully NSU will evaluate my transcripts individually but when I spoke to Denver he told me that unfortunately the person who reviews my transcripts will most likely look at my most recent one..which has all the course work from both institutions...he said he'd put a note on my transcript but who knows what will happen..i need to stay positive and just roll with the punches...whats meant to be..will be..best of luck to all of you..and if you guys could throw some advice or words of encouragement that'd be greatly appreciated..

Linda,

Im sorry to hear about your situation, i feel you completely... i am on the same boat as well as my earlier post stated... I am too on the fence with NSU, I hope they can see that i dropped this summer class in order to be evaluated correctly. However, do not get discouraged, you see we all have our problems and sometimes it takes a little bit to fix them. You may still have chance but if it comes to the point that you are not accepted, remember that you could still reapply for the Jan term. I too am super anxious to start already since im done and ive worked so hard to bump my gpa to where it is and balance work and school, etc. I know how you feel. So you are not alone in this. Denver is the man to go to and he knows how it this works. NSU is being very picky and selective, but its not your last choice. You still have other RN programs you can go to...so shoot for them. Believe in yourself that nothing will stop you, even if its taking longer than what we want it to be. You want to start now, i know, but sometimes its not meant for us to start now....reapply if anything, and fight with BC to fix that... they need to transfer it properly, its not your fault, so be on them and then you can reapply with everything fresh. I know it seems like a long time away but remember its the career thats important. No one said that it would be easy, they just said it would be worth it... stay with your dream, you will get there.

Also, as someone that works for the hospital.. do not do the LPN and then bridge over.. not worth it... trust me. Dont do that route, you are already on a good track its just a little tough right now... I know your stomach is tossing and turning, but hang in there ok. Keep on with BSN track because thats where nursing is right now. A lot of hospitals like that nurses have a BSN keep that in mind. If worse comes to worse do the ASN route then do the BSN online. There are many options just dont give up. I have to tell that to myself as well everyday, i left Denver 4 messages today lol so keep on calling and getting things resolved if you can with your mishap. Try other RN programs, Nova is not the only one out there..even though its your first choice, just dont close other doors either. Barry, UM, MDC, all have great Rn programs...look into it and keep fighting Linda. I hope this helps even though its long and tedious, but know that we are all going through our own battles and creating ulcers in our stomachs, NSU is a very long and drawn out process.....keep positive, but have a back up plan. You can do it and you will be a nurse one day and when you do i want you to post it here so i can congratulate you =) Keep moving forward. If you need anything just let me know. Take care and good luck.

Hey guys,

I wanted to follow up because I read on an earlier post that your status stays pending until you complete you summer courses. I just got an email from Denver, and he explained to me that my file is complete. They received my final transcripts on May 14th. I am taking a summer medical terminology class to stay busy, but he explained to me that on my VIP page it would stay pending, but that my file is complete, and will be reviewed in the next 3-4 weeks. So I hope you can pick up the course. It is not going to speed anything up. It's just they are truly really behind.

I hope this long wait is worth it!

Lindalove---I am a broward student, talk to an advisor they can fix this for you! I am sure they can.

Ralphigesbabe,

So even though your taking a summer course your file is complete... are you taking it as a school credit through the university... did it state it on your transcript that you were taking this class? because it says on mine that i am taking college algebra as a summer course, so it says pending courses on my VIP page... so i am worried about that... even though its not their requirement.... soooo frustrated sorry about asking so many questions... I hope it doesnt go against me and i dont have to drop it. thanks for the update.
