NSU EntryBSN Program Fall 2010

Hey I was wondering who has applied to the Nursing Program @ Nova starting fall 2010?

I would like to know of any updates any one has heard on the process, interviews, etc.

Ok.. so finally I spoke with one of the counselors, they actually called me back thankfully. He told me that they wont look at your packet until your final grades are posted and transcripts are sent in.. I told him if it was ok since its beyond the deadline but he said that a lot of people are pending due to their final transcripts yet to come in, so he made a note in the system and is going to advise them that my transcript should coming in at anytime... he was really nice about but said that they have only made decisions to those that have no classes pending, meaning they already finished all pre-eq's before applying. Hope this information helps anyone out there in the unknown of NSU...it really sucks how they are handling all of this... i already went to Miami Dade College today and asked for my transcript because i was just going to drive it up there but they said it already went out on Monday and it takes 3-5 business days to receive.... sounds ridiculous but now its out of my hands. My counselor also advised me to check my VIP page often because thats where the most recent information is...he said that they will still be accepting students after May and through mid June. The cut off is June due to the fact that July is when they start prepping the accepted students as far as uniforms, payment, etc. I am still going to be calling NSU you have to be on top of them if not you will be stuck, my counselor advised me that if i wouldnt have called that it would have stayed that way and that wouldnt be good. >0( so mad!!! They have no sense of priority at all.. so frustrated.

update...i called again like a stalker got someone else and she said that my transcripts are in since May5th ... you see how many people give you conflicting info... it just hasnt been updated on the VIP page yet because depending who is reviewing it, is the one that updates the info. Talk about giving you the runaround.. My friend just called and they told her that NOVA doesnt have a deadline they just do that so that people dont apply at the last minute, and to give students time to pay, etc. How crazy does that sound...we just have to hang in there and take it for what it is... have a great weekend everyone!!! Let's just hope that we all get in...I think the toughest part about the nursing program is dealing with all these things that come about. I honestly feel that we will appreciate it much more once we get in..and look back at all these stressfull situations and laugh.. :) Let's all keep our fingers crossed! :)

hey guys. I see alot of you are stressed out and worried about your application status and so forth and are VERY frustrated with Nova. I used this site alot when I was applying as well and had it saved under my bookmarks on my laptop and was curious to take a look at it and see everyone that's going thru the same craziness I went thru. I'm a second semester student in the entry level nursing program right now in the kendall campus. I just wanted to give you guys piece of mind...... Nova is an extremely prestigious nursing program and there are SOO many people applying for Fall 2010. There has been alot of craziness going on for the past few weeks with the end of spring semester and summer semester just beginning this week. Its very hectic right now. But I promise you they will get everything done. I was originally supposed to begin in Fall 2009 but, like many of you, I had alot of madness going on throughout my application process and ended up finding out that I was missing a prereq that apparently noone noticed until a week before school start. mind you I had already been accepted to the program and all for Fall 2009 but last minute they told me I had to take one more class out of nowhere. but after all was said and done I was tentatively accepted to the program for Spring 2010 after I finished taking that last class and I am absolutely in love with this program. Honestly, if I could remember correctly when i was first accepted I received my letter of acceptance for Fall 2009 in late May. (yes the entire summer past and they told me the 2nd week of august i cant start and have to take one more class). but anyways!... it was all worth it and I promise you all will be well.

LivK6, thank you so much for your encouraging words especially at this time that we are just freaking out... i feel as if NSU is just giving everyone the run around. I cant believe that they told you that at the last minute, i wouldve been furious. But look you are in and it was worth it... i am glad you are happy. We are all shooting for the same thing as you were. I am very disappointed at just the information they give out to us, its very conflicting and incorrect half of the time. I am a NSU stalker right now lol i think they know me by name already when i call. I just hope they dont hold it against me with all these mix ups. I want to be denied because i was not good enough for this term not because of some miscommunication. I now realize how imperative it is to be on top of them. I know a lot of ppl are applying this term its the most popular time, so im super nervous about it. They have screwed me over so many times that i had to catch it and fix it and who knows that may have already chosen spots for other students since I was placed in the wrong program. Anyways, its nice to hear from someone already in the program, it will give us some ease on the situation. So how did you do the Advanced Anatomy class? I heard its super hard lol. the best advice i can give you all is just that, stay on top of them! just constantly call to follow up every other day. because things can always be messed up. I went thru hell and back during the admissions process but like i said it was all worth it. I love it. and as for the anatomy physiology class.... lol its killer... I've always been a good student and always doing well in my classes especially my sciences ... but like im telling you i BOMBED my first test and i busted my behind studying for the rest of the semester. i ended up with a B in the class. the BEST words of wisdom i can give you is DO NOT get discouraged. it's just tough.

I've called twice now to make sure everything is there and so far so good. They did tell me today that I had to send a copy of my residency card which no one had told me before but I have more than two weeks to do that and said it could be done by fax (hopefully that's true). I told the lady on the phone that I shouldv'e been notified before and she was so apologetic..they must be getting a lot of angry phone calls. It's really a shame to hear these complaints about a school which is going to be taking so much of our money lol. I wonder when we're really going to find out if we're in or not. I expected to know by Mid-May but I can see that that's definately not going to happent.

LIVK6, after everything, do you think it's worth going to NSU? I see that you love it, but do you think it's worth waiting an extra semester and going to FIU since it is much cheaper?

honestly it all depends on where you have your mind set on. From the get go I knew I wanted to go to Nova. I would suggest to apply EVERYWHERE for sure. I started at FIU right after high school and I ended up not even being allowed to apply to their nursing program bc I had a family emergency one summer that I was taking microbio and the lab and I had to end up dropping the class so i ended up with a W on my transcript and their policy is that you're not allowed to drop or fail any sciences. I even explained to them my situation and they wouldn't budge even though i got an A in the class when i took it the following semester. it's their policy. so i ended up applying to Barry and Nova and i got in to both. So far I LOVE nova but like I said... it depends where you have your mind set on and your particular situation.

I have been reading this thread since it started. I will be applying to Nova for the January 2011 term. As of right now, I have a 3.71 GPA. Can you tell me more about Nova's scholarship with Baptist (that's is one of my major reasons for wanting to go to Nova or Barry). Thank you.

I called today, because they should have received my final transcripts already. The girl that answered said they did..But my VIP page STILL says I am missing information, I asked her why, and she says she doesn't know because everything is in..I have left the messages on the advisors voicemail..I hope he calls me back! :( I am a little worried.

I keep telling myself that if I was denied I would've received a denial letter by now...but now I'm just starting to think that these people just haven't gotten around to my application yet...this is insane...when the heck are we going to find out?

Same happened to me, they received my final transcripts from MDC but it still says i am missing everything. I have I think over three time in the past week and they keep telling me that everything is in. All I have to do is wait. They do not know why my VIP page says im missing info. even though everything is checked off.
